Nuchal fold test hospital cock up

I'm a bit worried. With ds there was a high risk of him having Downs Syndrome and I had a cvs. The hospital staff were very keen for me to go down this route and it was a very stressful and difficult time. I decided that I would keep ds whatever the diagnosis and the test showed that he did not have Downs Syndrome.

I had my 12 week scan and nuchal fold test three weeks ago for new dc and I haven't heard anything from the hospital this time. I took this to be a positive in a very difficult pregnancy. However, reading on here I realised I should have got a letter telling me the risk to dc and I have not (with the high risk last time I got a phone call).

I have rang my midwife and then the antenatal ward and after a lot of huffing and puffing it appears the lab have not recorded any result from my blood tests, hence the lack of letter as it appears I did not have the test on their system. The manager is chasing it up and promises to get back to me tomorrow but I am absolutely furious and terrified. I was so happy I didn't have to go through tests and worry this time and it might be that I still do.

I know there is nothing anyone can do and I just have to wait and see but I wanted to get it off my chest, there is only dh to speak to at the moment and he is very practical, which is not how I am feeling at the moment!

Oh no, that must be horrible :( it's no wonder you're stressed after what happened last time. I really hope that everything is OK and that you don't have to go through it all again xx

What a stressful mess! Have you considered the Harmony test? It's more reliable and you can have it done any time you want.

Well, that's utterly appalling if they've lots results of not recorded them.

However, if they have I would ask them to refer you for an nhs nipty (basically a harmony) test. Some trusts do them on the nhs, we had to pay privately but seeing as it's their cock up I'd ask them to fund it.

It is highly accurate to the point it's almost diagnostic and non invasive.

I am really very lucky and it turns out the lab had sent my results to the wrong hospital. This time the odds of the baby having Down's Syndrome are 1 in 13000 which is considered low risk.

However this is the third lot of tests I've had this pregnancy and so far one lot was not reported to my GP for over a month, one lot was mislabelled and needed to be redone and this lot was lost in the system. I am not being filled with confidence at the moment :)
