Abnormality found in scan

Hi everyone.

2 weeks ago I had my first scan. It turns out I was only 9 weeks pregnant after thinking I was further gone. The midwife noticed something strange next to my baby. At first she said it may be a molar pregnancy, that I was pregnant with twins and lost one.

Another midwife came in a suggested it may or may not be a benyne cyst, but she really couldn't tell me for sure.

This was worrying for one reason: how could two experience midwives not be sure if it was a routin cyst? Surely they would of seen dozens of them throughout their jobs?

Has anyone experience anything similar? Has anyone ever had a benyne cyst? If so what happens? Could it cause damage to my baby?

I'd be super grateful if anyone could let me know their experiences with something like this- as I'm struggling to put it at the back of my mind.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for your response. I meant to say sonographers not midwives (haven't quite learnt the lingo yet). There were 2 who we're investigating it, but it worried me that if it was a routine cyst, surely the could of identified it?

My next scan is in 6 days so I'll hold off until then. Thanks again :)
