Nervous after TFMR - where can I get a private scan in London?

Hi ladies,

I had a TFMR at 21 weeks during my last pregnancy. Consequently I get very anxious about the well-being of this baby.

I am 33 weeks pregnant and a little neurotic (my husband may say a lot neurotic!). UCH have been amazing but I don't think we can ask for another NHS scan. Please can you recommend a good place to get a private scan in London? I would like to put my mind at ease as our next scan isn't for another month.

Many thanks

DRS SO sorry to hear about your first pregnancy, it makes your subsequent pregnancies very stressful, there's nothing wrong with wanting reassurance.

After our tfmr we went to the Fetal Medical Centre as Eldon recommends and I couldn't recommend them highly enough. They are patient and thorough and see a lot of people who are (unfortunately) in the same position as us.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well and you can try to relax a little. Despite our fist baby being very ill with a rare condition our DS was born a year later and is very healthy and robust.

Piz

Yes, I agree with the Fetal Medicine Centre on Harley street. They really are the experts at pregnancy scanning and will focus on the medical details rather than pretty 3d pictures like some places. Run by Professor Nicolaides who is a leading expert in this area. You probably won't see the Prof himself but he trains all the scanners there.

Thank you much for your advice. I will make an appointment tomorrow. I've heard all about Prof Nicolaides so that sounds like the place to go!

All the best

When I was at UCH, they had growth scans at 34 weeks for everyone. Has it changed? Otherwise the Fetal Medicine Centre is the place to go in London.

I was under the care of the fetal medicine centre docs but through the NHS at kings. They recently diagnosed my dd2s Edwards syndrome and carried out the termination injection for us.

They were brilliant. Really caring and considerate.

It's going to be a while before we think about number 3 but when we do we are definitely going to go to them privately for the harmony package.
