Hi all,

Please excuse my lack of understanding regarding this - is my first pregnancy and a lot to take in!

Have chosen combined screening for the likelihood of Downs via the NHS. Had my bloods last week. My scan is this Thursday.

My question is when do they tell you your result? Will it be the person who does the scan? Will they have the blood test results? Or will I have to go back to my midwife or receive a call/letter.

Husband has annoyingly invited his Mum down to tell her our news the day after the scan - when I'm not sure if we will even have the results by then?

Again - sorry for any ignorance and thanks in advance for any help or experience you have for me.

:)

It depends on hospital. Some say immediately, some call/send a letter later. It's the best to call your midwife and ask.

Usually they say 3 weeks but it could arrive sooner than that by post.

Depends on hospital. I was given my combined risk straight after the scan by the scanner. I'd had my blood tests a week or two before the scan, so similar to you.

I was given the Nuchal measurement at the scan- then told I would be contacted within 3 days if high risk- or with a letter in about a week if not
Luckily I got a letter a week later with a risk of 1 in 100,000
But regardless of that we told people straight after our scan - the people that we would want to know even if something was wrong
Then waited for the results to tell every soul that would listen :)
