Has the MAP not worked? Feeling anxious

Not sure if I'm posting in the right bit but need a bit of advice. DP and I got carried away without protection... When I checked the date it was when I was ovulating. Went within 12 hours for MAP as we do want to try for another in the New Year but in my head had planned for after our holiday early in the year. ( wanted a white wine in the sun). My period is due on the 4th but have sore boobs and dull ache in lower stomach. Don't usually get these symptoms before period. Could it just symptoms from taking MAP ? Also how early can I test? Advice very welcome

The MAP can mess with your hormones a bit, and it can also potentially delay your period from starting. Because of the hormone content I'd say it's possible that unusual symptoms could be from the MAP but there's no guaranteed way of knowing just now. Regarding testing, how long is it normally between your ovulation and your period arriving? My advice would be to steer clear of 'cheapy' tests, from experience I have found the First Response Early Result (FRER) tests to be the most reliable. It would probably be safe to trust an FRER from about 13 days post ovulation.

Sorry about all the possibly/potentially/probablies in my post, unfortunately this is one of those things that there are no guarantees about. Good luck, I hope you get the result that's right for you.

Thanks ControlGeek for your reply. I don't know what to think at the moment. Half of me has come around to the idea and the other half is worried if I am what harm have I done with the Pill (even with all the google searches saying it doesn't harm) Confused and wishing Saturday here. Thanks again

hi I'm afraid I've no words of wisdom but reading your post was like reading a mirror of my past couple of days!! I took the map on Saturday after our protection split on thurs night and looking at my cycle it seemed to be at the time I would be about to ovulate. unlike you tho I'm really not prepared for another, we have 3 ds's and the 2nd 2 were both very prem so a future pregnancy would also hold that risk.
I do hope that you get the right results for you - perhaps we could handhold while we wait for AF...... x

Good idea. I had a dream AF turned up last night but was just a dream... It's hard to switch off from thinking about it isn't it. Wishing you luck

Did you keep the information leaflet from the pack?

If it was levornelle you took, then the symptoms you describe are listed as common (somewhere between 1:10 and 1:100 of people who take it). It can also muck up you cycle by up to 5 days.

So hold of from testing (if you can bear it) until day AF would have been due, but it could be 5 days longer than your typical longest cycle. I'll send soothing thoughts now, as those days could be nerve wracking.
