I had this and had to have an internal scan.

I had a fairly large amount of cervix removed through extensive LETZ and they were concerned it may be incompetent.

When measured it was 4cm which is longer than normal and no action was taken. Have since had 2 DC vaginal births again with no problems.

Well if it had been extensive it would have been a cone biopsy, so it won't have been that bad. It's a scraping to take away the affected cells.

I had CIN3 so much more severe than you. I also didn't get it checked until about 24 weeks, clearly your hospital is on the ball Smile

I have had 2 children (DC) and am 18 weeks with my third child (DC3) and apart from one internal which took about 10 minutes (and meant I got a much better picture of my baby than a normal scan) it has never been mentioned again.

I really don't think you need to worry. Even if you were to need a stitch it's much better this is done than left. Just try and see the positive side of them checking and knowing there is a potential issue, albeit a very small one.

Yes, it's definitely a positive thing they are going to check you. So many women have to beg to get checked despite having risk factors. Most women with letz are fine, it's just another risk factor. I have a ridiculously incompetent cervix (it was 3mm at 18 weeks with DC2 and her feet were about to come out) and I never had anything done to my cervix at all in that way. Most of the people I know about who have IC have not had letz or similar.

Having a stitch isn't that bad, for what it's worth! Honest!

Hi, agree, you can probably relax. I had CIN 3 and Lletz loop which has left my cervix looking quite battered apparently! However, I didn't need a stitch for my two subsequent pregnancies, all was fine.

Good luck with it all.

I had CIN3 and Lletz 3 years before I fell pregnant with DD1. I had an internal scan at 24 weeks to check cervical length and it was fine and I didn't need a stitch.

Please don't worry. Lots of women have this procedure and it's good your hospital are taking it so seriously and already have started the ball rolling.

I've had cin3 too and I had to have a cervix stitch for all 4 of my pregnancies. I was closely monitored, had no problems and felt totally reassured.
It's better to be safe than sorry, try not to worry
