Has anyone had inutero chest drains fitted?

Hi,

I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant and have to make a decision on whether or not to have shunts put in baby's chest to drain off some fluid which is stopping the lungs from developing properly. I think I've already decided to go ahead but I was wondering if anyone else had had the same procedure?

I've been told that it's done under local anaesthetic and sedation but I'm really worried about how much it will hurt. There's also a 5% risk of prem labour and even with the shunt in I've been warned the chance of having lung function at birth is fifty fifty.

Anyone have any experiences good or bad?

Hotdog, I'm just bumping this for you.

I don't have experience with this at all, but I do have a DD with SN, and the SN children section (it's opt-in, so you may not have seen it in active convos) has lots of parents whose children have breathing issues.

I hope you find some support Smile
