Had a baby heart scan at the John Radcliffe today as we are definitely having a Downs baby, baby had a small VSD at previous scans
They seem confident that babies hole is so small it may not need attention
or that it wasn't there at all; it's in a very difficult place to see, so that was progress!
Unfortunately, they also had a look at the bowel area and found a 'double bubble' basically a blockage in the bowel
Fixable at birth but implications are; surgery on a newborn is not really ideal and a bit risky, baby cannot process the amniotic fluid meaning fluid will increase rapidly apparently; I may suffer with a huge belly due to this and need it draining to release pressure; baby now at risk of being born pre term
Really stressful day
Luckily for baby it's just one operation and from the sound of it things will be fine after that; as long as nothing else is discovered
Just feels like it's one step forward and 5 steps back at the moment
One positive out of the day is they have disregarded the fluid on the brain as an issue and the heart problem is now not a problem, just this other big thing we have to deal with now
And I don't fancy having needles put in my belly for drainage
Grumpy me :(
