Here it is!

Thanks BBL*

I think he's right about the bearings, thank you! - I've googled it and it seems right. But a bit scary, given that the AA says they need to be replaced because they can cause the wheel to fall off or steering failures shock I've just telephoned DH and told him I and DS are not getting in the car again....Internet shopping and public transport here we come!

BeckyBendyLegs Mon 28-Sep-09 10:18:57

Lemontop spag bol, chilli, curry, stew, casarole - all good things to freeze! We used to eat a lot of things such as baked potato, salad, and chops or steaks - quite easy to make. Even making a casarole you can do earlier in the day and just dish up.

The DSs are going to have school dinners after the baby is born (currently they have packed lunches) so that I can just feed them cheese on toast, sandwiches, etc after the baby is born.

Morning ladies * tips hat *

I'm feeling so much better today, I just had to come and spread my good mood around Am in rather a lot of pain today, but still feeling quite happy.

Also, must share my delight with people who will understand - I got away with only one run to the loo last night. Am very impressed!!! Oh how you life changed in pregnancy grin

Thanks for started the new thread, Becky

Pavlov I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, great news

Have posted the link to this one on the old thread so hopefully everyone will find us okay!

Hope you're all feeling good. x

Laugs Mon 28-Sep-09 10:27:08

lemontop I am trying to plan some meals to make and freeze too. They will mostly be involving leek! I'm a bit short on inspiration as well. I'm thinking of: spag bol, chilli, mild curry, casseroles and various soups. I suppose at least it will be winter so we'll fancy lots of comfort food.

ErikaMaye Mon 28-Sep-09 10:30:17

Lasange (spl??) freezes well - if you're making spag bol, you could just make double the mix, its what I tend to do if its my turn to cook

skorpion Mon 28-Sep-09 10:31:36

Morning!

Thanks becky, well done on the new thread. And erika - for posting the link.

pavlov good to hear you're feeling better.

lemontop I'm planning exactly the same - huge batches of stuff for the freezer. There's a great recipe by Delia Smith for a fab lasagne sauce. It uses liver so I can't wait to be able to eat it again. I think pate will be on my list of things for the first meal after labour.

Thanks to all ladies for your bf stories, very encouraging for whatever comes.

morning all.
About breastfeeding: I really want to breastfeed and my sister lent me a book which has helped her a lot when she had problems. I guess the key thing to know is that it is something baby and mother both have to learn and most of the time it is not easy (if it is be happy) and there is not just one truth about it. But I agree, if it doesn't work, we can be happy that there is such a thing as formula and it is definitely up to the mother to decide what is best in her case. And a stressed and depressed mother doesn't help the child at all. After all, I was breastfed, my husband wasn't and I'm the one with permanent colds and allergies.

kyte DH said you need to get it fixed in case your wheel falls off too, but i thought you should make sure it was that or else I would be frightening you for no reason!

Bookmarking myself and need to catch up from the other thread!!

ursigurke Mon 28-Sep-09 11:35:22

claire, it's in German and already a couple of years old (tbh, first edition would be from the fifthies!) but it seems to be the translation and "completition" of "the womanly art of breastfeeding". It's from the La Leche League so I suppose they might already have edited a more recent book. It is obviously sometimes really strict about bf but I think it is really complete in terms of possible problems and what you can try. For my sister it worked really well, I think she found an answer to all of her problems.

Morning all

Definitely starting to feel as though it's all imminent this end now. Haven't packed my bag yet and still have things to sort - whilst I know I have at least 4 weeks I'm starting to panic!

Bf - my dd took to it beautifully and we did fine, my ds didn't though and we struggled for 5 weeks until I moved to bottles. Both are healthy babies with no allergies etc.
For those with Mums/MIL's that bottle fed (as was the fashion/norm then) just try not to get upset if you look to them for support and they don't give you the level you want. I spoke to my Mum re the problems with DS and she was quyite dismissive and just said to put him on a bottle and be done with it. In hindsight, my unwillingness to move to formula I guess made her feel as though I was rejecting the choice she'd made for her children and so she was reacting to that.

I think it's easy for us to forget to think about why people react as they do when we're tired with a newborn and trying to do best for the baby.

I'll be trying again this time and will do all I can to succeed, including looking for more support from nhs/nct/la leche etc. this time but if we end up on formula then so be it.

Oh, top tip for engorged breasts too is savoy cabbage!! Put one in the fridge and when you are hot and swollen, take a leaf off and put it in your bra. Don't know what's in it, but it does work.
(p.s. change regularly as they can start to cook grin)

Wow, Usigurke you are nearly there shock I am v jealous.... Feel like I can't possibly be pregnant for another 8, possibly 9 weeks... It's too much!

DH inflated me a gym ball - really felt comfortable on them at NCT classes, but I am terrified I am going to burst it! It's a cheap Argos one (£7) but it really doesn't feel as stable as the NCT ones! Does anyone else have one?

Erika glad you are feeling in a good mood today!

And no, Belgianbun I want to pop first!!grin Although hopefully not before 36 weeks...
