Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

wow mkg cant believe we are on the birthing thread already! exciting yet terrifying! fab title cant believe how quickly this pregnancy has passed! about the discharge plenty here too! hospital said it was normal when i was there on friday. i remember it from previous pregnancies just not this volume! lol

laumiere Mon 02-Feb-09 14:18:44

Def with you on the volume, but mine's been a bit odd anyway as I've been given progesterone pessaries which 'melt' to a sort of white cream anyway.

(They're supposed to stop smooth muscles contracting, as I was getting a LOT of BH)

lolianja Mon 02-Feb-09 14:20:27

Hi everybody. Gordon, the speed at which we're getting through these threads.

Baby was engaged at around 30 weeks, then she bobbed up a little a month or so later and has now (36 weeks) suddenly bobbed right back down and I've just lost my plug (would be the day we get the heaviest snowfall in the UK, sod's law etc). Hopefully she'll be staying put since I've got almost 4 weeks to go until the official due date but am on standby nevertheless. So might feasibly be birth number 2 of the thread! Rather exciting but I can't get my head around the idea of February baby. I'd actually anticipated a late arrival and still have a gut feeling that the baby might hang on but realistically I know it's unlikely I'll make it all the way through Feb without popping!

Hope everyone's well.

livismum Mon 02-Feb-09 14:20:34

Yep loads here too! My DH thought he was reallg good in bed last week but i burst his bubble by saying 'i'm like it all the time at the mo!' poor bruised male ego ha ha! grin

twocutedarlings Mon 02-Feb-09 14:21:38

Yay!! New thread!!!!

Love the title MKG yes lots of very gunky discharge here also!!

Well DH is off works today cos of the snow, and we have just been and collected the girls from school/nursery and they have all gone off to the park to play grin!! im sat in front of the fire with chocolate and a rare cup of strong coffee.............yum yum!! wink

Wheelybug Mon 02-Feb-09 14:26:28

Found you !

Laumiere - that's how I did bottles for dd too. Now they say there's a risk of food poisoning from the powder if not boiled. Hmmm. I know the risk is tiny but I seem to be more paranoid this time round than last. Will see how it goes - will probably revert to old habits ! That's interesting MKG that in the US you just use tap water - I think in the UK (me anyway) always think the US are more conscious of these things so makes me think its probably fine !

Lolianja - DD was due in Feb and arrived in Jan, it was a bit bizarre getting your head around the fact she'd been born in the wrong month ! I guess I'm still at risk of a Feb baby too as dd was induced early although fingers crossed everything looks on course at the moment but I too am planning a March baby so would be quite surprised by a feb one !!

CaptainKarvol Mon 02-Feb-09 14:34:12

oooh, you all moved thread.

Hope everyone is getting along OK - I still read and lurk a lot, but am hopeless at keeping up with these huge threads!

I keep forgetting how far along I am (the perils of second pregnancy), but have managed to arrange my homebirth, so I'm off the hook with trying and failing to organise childcare for DS, thank goodness. All I need to do now is sort out the birthpool and I'm set to go. Apart from no washed baby clothes, no idea where the moses basket has gone, no breast pads or maternity towels...

I'm watching the snow pouring down here, and feeling really grateful that the only important person trying to get here today is the Saisbury's delivery man - not a good day for babys to arrive!

laumiere Mon 02-Feb-09 15:05:48

I can't see how keeping boiled cooled water in a sealed, sterilised flask until you mix it with powder is NOT safe!

The DH guidelines are predictably vague but they seem to be saying don't make up feeds and then use over the day (I never did this anyway, the feed stank after about 30 min anyway!).

Just another reason to give BF another crack!

lizziemun Mon 02-Feb-09 15:59:44

I think it just another way of making you feel guilty about bottle feeding.

I make up 6 bottle of boiled water and keep in the fridge the (whispers) microwave and then add powder.

As neither dd's would take milk at room temp.

CaptainKarvol

You wait till on pg number 3.

I keep thinking i should probaly pack my bag and do a birth plangrin. As i am 35wks. But then oh i do it next week.

rmc77 Mon 02-Feb-09 16:15:45

Can I join in? I am due 1st March. I already have DD (21 months).

titmouse Mon 02-Feb-09 16:23:36

ooh shiny new thread. Awesome.
I'm still not on the 'official list' but seeing as its a new thread, if anybody updates it any time soon please can I go back on? I'm due 26th March, this is our first, and we don't know what it is. Aside from the obvious 'baby'. And I am 31.

EllieorOllie Mon 02-Feb-09 16:40:27

Haven't quite caught up with the end of the last thread yet - was so shattered over the weekend that i couldn't muster the energy to turn on my laptop. hopeless really!!

Am having a taster of maternity leave today and tomorrow as all schools locally are shut due to the snow. The snow is actually officially my fault, as my class were supposed to be studying extreme weather this week, starting with blizzards!! Oops!

Was quite alarmed by the amount of discharge over the last few days. I keep thinking i'm losing my plug, or that my waters are going (last time they trickled out unimpressively, was very confusing, noone believed me until they tried to break my waters in labour...).

I am having incredible searing pains where i think my cervix must be, as if the baby is pushing down. Yesterday i thought he was trying to claw his way out without waiting for my cervix to dilate. I'm sure i didn't get this till about 2 weeks before the end last time. I really should get my arse in gear and organise things in case he puts in an early appearance. I've written a list. I just haven't done anything about it!!!

titmouse Mon 02-Feb-09 16:46:16

thanks lizziemun!

Here's a question for you all: do you know exactly when you conceived? I would really like to know and I've tried various online calculator things but get a different date each time. There's two possible dates, about 6 days apart. I am not sure I understand how long it is between doing it and conception either.
It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things but husband and I often wonder which time it was, as I went to where he was away working on one of the dates and I swear my hormones made me take the 400-mile round trip.
It seems daft to still be wondering this when really I ought to be preparing for birth!!!

goldmother2b Mon 02-Feb-09 17:04:49

MKG - thanks for the advice re induction. They will be scanning me tomorrow to check growth and I will def ask about whether they will be checking to see if my cervix is ready to go before induction.

Re discharge - yup loads here too, just in the last week it has practically doubled....

Titmouse - I know exactly when I conceived - was using OPKs so knew when I ovulated and did the deed accordingly....a wednesday in June!

jollyjoanne Mon 02-Feb-09 18:04:22

wow another thread. . . it has been very active recently.

MKG totally with you on the pains down there! Presume it is just the position of the babys head but the pubic bone feeling quite bruised.

And although the boobs don't seem to have grown too much the ribs seem to have and I had to move up to the next chest size and I am thinking of buying some of those extender things so that I don't have to go and buy another collection of bras.

As for the discharge, at present there doesn't seem to be much more than normal, but as I have another 5 weeks to go I suppose there is still plenty of time for that!

I have enjoyed my first day of maternity leave and the opportunity to put my feet up. And even better than that my mum has been round and done loads of cleaning for me, as she felt sorry for me trying to clean the floors etc with the big bump.

And even better my other pregnant colleague at work, has had her baby already, which really rather brought things home, he weighed a quite respectable 6lb 11. grin

lizziemun Mon 02-Feb-09 18:15:52

Titmouse

Yes i know exactly when i conceived as we only did it once since having dd2 grin.

auntyspan Mon 02-Feb-09 18:29:15

Hi everyone - hope everyone's nice and warm with all this snow!

Had a thoroughly crappy day - DD1 has had a temperature since saturday afternoon - thought it might be chicken pox but so far no spots, just catarrh. We're having the bathroom done and the sodding workman are doing everything so sodding slowly it's been a mess for a week and only half the tling has been done! All the stuff from the bathroom is in DD1s room, DD1 is in the nursery, and I still haven't packed a bag, got the stuff down from the loft, sorted myself out re: equipment (steriliser etc) ARGH the list goes on! Had to keep nipping across to the neighbours house for a pee cos we don't have a loo!

HOpefully tomorrow will be a better day!

On conception - pretty good idea it was either the 13th June or a couple of days afterwards - I was thinking the other day that was the last date I was properly drunk! Seems EONS ago!

Always had loads of VD ths pregnancy, been wearing pantyliners since before I found out I was pregnant. I hope it doesn't increase, I'll be getting out the TenaLady!

titmouse Mon 02-Feb-09 18:33:12

ooh Auntyspan you conceived on my birthday wink I do hope tomorrow is a better day for you it sounds like this one was a nightmare.

Slickbird Mon 02-Feb-09 18:49:11

Yip, I conceived on June 11th (two days before DH's bday - yes, bday shag) and that's why I think my due date is actually March 5th but the scan put me back 6 days and this happened last time and then I felt I was a week late! That being the case, instead of having just under four weeks, I have five weeks and that just makes me want to shoot myself..........

MKG Mon 02-Feb-09 19:05:39

I conceived on June 17. June 18th is my birthday. So happy birthday to me, my husband got me pregnant . . . again LOL

EllieorOllie Mon 02-Feb-09 20:53:38

no idea when i conceived - we were at it like rabbits for a few months in order to make sure we conceived asap and didn't end up with a summer baby. no probs with summer babies personally, but people tend to look askance at teachers who have summer babies... apparently it's somehow irresponsible!!

EllieorOllie Mon 02-Feb-09 20:56:17

incidentally i knew exactly when i conceived DD. mostly because it involved a rugby club social, a mammoth hangover and a very large pair of feathery angel wings on the headboard. how times have changed...
