Am refusing to give in and buy a doppler as I would only be constantly attached to it [paranoid emoticon needed] and that is not a good thing.

Hope everyone is ok smile.

<winey backs away from amazon.co.uk and goes to find some much needed lunch>

rosieposey Tue 12-Aug-08 13:54:33

Winey lol im soooo paranoid thats why i got the doppler and as long as your around 12ish weeks you shouldnt have any probs finding the babys heartbeat (its low, low down though) - i did think you had to be around 14 but ive found it every evening without fail for the last week now Its pretty good for getting you through to the next scan!

Got to go to horrid Tesco shortly and get some stuff for DD's 16th - banners and things and its a huge shop so should have lots of nice balloony type stuff - i hate supermarkets and am actually going to join the ever growing ranks of online grocery shoppers ( even my mum orders online! ) as the idea of throwing my unwieldy belly around the veg aisle when i am 8 months preg isnt a pretty one ...

MarkStretch Tue 12-Aug-08 14:03:43

Well, Dh and I have an agreement.

We will use the doppler once a week to have a listen and then he will hide it. He is very good at hiding things.

Then I will not become obsessive.

We hope.

I will not.

No.

Definately not.

MarkStretch Tue 12-Aug-08 14:05:32

Oh and I had a thought (at 4am)

If I opt for the elective like they have offered me at 39 weeks, my baby might be born in January!

I really must do some work....

LittleMissNorty Tue 12-Aug-08 14:06:08

You're all very brave with the doppler....I'd be at A&E all the time demanding a scan.

With my last pg, I must have gone to hear the hearbeat about 5-6 times due to non-movement....I was absolutely paranoid. This time, I'm going to do a kick-chart.

LittleMissNorty Tue 12-Aug-08 14:07:28

same here Markstretch - if I have a 37-38 week elective CS I'm looking at mid-January....so plan to have some leave and finish work at Xmas, then start mat leave on CS date.

winemakesmummyclever Tue 12-Aug-08 14:22:18

Suppose that even though my edd is 23 Feb, an elective CS at 38w will bring me forward to early Feb. Have my next mw appt on 04/09 - shall have to ask her about it all so I can get it straight in my head before I see the consultant a few weeks after.

When I was pg with ds, I was working nights and when it was quiet, my mate would pull up the U/S machine and we'd sit and watch the baby for a bit. It was lovely <sigh>.

Nope, I am not going to get one.

Well, maybe......

Just looking wouldn't hurt would it?

MarkStretch Tue 12-Aug-08 14:31:15

Now how on earth did that link get there!

<<walks away whistling>>

onwardandupward Tue 12-Aug-08 14:41:42

Sorry about the lack of 2009ishness in the new thread title. I realised about 45 seconds after I'd created the thread.

And then I thought: sod it. We'll only be on this thread for about 5 minutes before we've filled it up and need a new one anyway!

I was looking at the list and seeing a lot of names who never post maybe they have better places to hang out.

winemakesmummyclever Tue 12-Aug-08 14:44:24

MS, you pesky temptress you!grin

No, no, no.....

<winey peeps at the screen from between her fingers>

Oh go on then. Just a quick look and then I really shall have to get off my arse and do something about the state of the house blush.

MarkStretch Tue 12-Aug-08 14:47:46

I am sitting MNing typing letters today and I can feel fluttering.

Definate flutters. Anyone else?

rosieposey Tue 12-Aug-08 15:12:10

Aww no flutters - but i cant wait to feel them - im going to send it back (the doppler) once i can feel definate movement as i wont need it.

Midwife at booking in said there was a good chance of an elective if i wanted one this time just to bring it up with the consultant at my appt ( my induction of labour with dd3's was terribly managed and she ended up in intensive care for a week so im going to be raising that with them at the end of the month at my appt. I know its not everyones cup of tea but i think an elective cs is safer than a badly managed vb. Hmm if this one came exactly three weeks early then id have to share my Birthday on the last day in Jan - i dont think i want to do that lol - mind you with DP and me in Jan and this lo sometime in feb its going to be a bloody expensive time of year!

MamaGoose Tue 12-Aug-08 15:27:28

Nadssss - phew, relieved it's not just me with the evening downer. I thought I was going bonkers! Mind you, I know that your milk production drops a lot in the evening so something goes on with your hormones. Maybe it's along the same lines?

onwardandupward Tue 12-Aug-08 17:02:40

I've got movement. Not sure when it started, actually, but it's very very clear now. I'm 14 and a bit weeks (but second child, which makes it earlier, and I remember being way earlier than the charts said last time as well - I must just have lots of peculiarly sensitive nerve endings on the outside of my uterus!

I just had an afternoon nap and I feel a million dollars grin

lardybump Tue 12-Aug-08 17:12:25

Evening everyone. Guess what????

I have a little baby in my tummy..... yay. We saw all the bits that are meant to be there (and none that are not) and it was all in the correct place. Two little legs and two little arms. Baby was wiggling all over the place and had a good look at us too... So I am really pleased... Heart beat was 158bpm so I think that means it’s a girl doesn't it???

They would not tell me anything re necual (sp?) because I have to wait for blood results. I have to call Friday when the bloods are back so hopefully then I can relax a bit more.... Scan lady did say the Neucal was very thin and the nose bone was very visible so that was good. (Have no idea what the nose bone has to do with it though. She also placed me at 12.5 weeks but said that she wouldn't change my dates for 3.5 days.

Baby seemed much ganglier than dd. Much longer legs and arms than dd at this stage... (Lardy prays for a little one, dd was 8lb 4 and was a week early)

MarkStretch Tue 12-Aug-08 17:27:54

I got my doppler!

I heard my baby!

Was grinning from ear to ear like an idiot!

C an't wait for DH to get home so I can show him!

pluto Tue 12-Aug-08 18:23:51

Hello everyone,

Lack of postings due to lovely two week holiday in the sun. There's a baby in my tummy too! Had dating scan the day before we went away and it confirmed that I was ten weeks pg then (13 tomorrow). Baby looked like a frog but sonographer said everything looked OK. Decided not to have nuchal scan but will do quad blood tests. Booking in with midwife tomorrow. Still feel a bit sick and v tired. No bump to show off yet but have started to tell close family. 8 year old DS's reaction was entertaining!

Hope all is well with everyone - I can't believe we're on our 4th thread. Now I have time I'll read back the postings on the previous ones.

spottyshoes Tue 12-Aug-08 18:47:30

Yay new thread, yay everyone's news!!

Congrats pluto & lardybump on your scans. And Markstretch on the successful doppler test!!!!

I'm away at my mums tonight so can't post properly but just wanted to add my name to the new thread!!!

See y'all tomorrow

grin

TummyTrouble Tue 12-Aug-08 19:32:42

Lardybump - babies with Downs don't generally have an obvious nasal bone, it's flat. Good luck for Friday, sounds pretty positive though.
