shubiedoo Tue 08-Jul-08 14:48:46

Excellent! Hi from Canada! Weather is great, I'm packing a picnic now for the beach, will check in later.
Hope you're all feeling great!

Singingintherain Tue 08-Jul-08 14:55:50

Thanks,

I spoke to my mum at the weekend and told her of my problems. She told me she needed all the facts so that she could tell her brothers and sister at a family reunion meal on Sunday. So my "Secret is out". grin

I suppose they were expecting some news sooner or later after 2 mc's. I am looking forward to someone noticing though.

Three weeks to go for 12 week scan. At the moment I am 9w+2d

Now just deciding what to have to eat. Off meat, but just read a post about peanut butter. Going to send dh to go and get some. Hope they have it in the international section in the supermarket. Normally it is only chocolate spread.

onwardandupward Tue 08-Jul-08 15:27:42

Oh God, I just had a call from home. I put on the bread machine this morning only I forgot to put the mixer thingy in the bottom. So it's a sticky, gooey, unmixed, burned mess. blush

How pregnant am I?!

Newb Tue 08-Jul-08 15:27:44

Hi All

Long time no post, but have read all the previous thread. All good here. Scan at 8+4 showed heartbeat and a little jelly-baby thing that is the little-un.....

LittleSarah Tue 08-Jul-08 15:43:29

Hello again

Most exciting today! Bravissimo have opened a shop in Edinburgh! So chuffed, didn't have time to go in but I'll definitely be going back for some swimwear and undies soon.

Also got some wedding shoes, Nine West sale £29, that'll do me. grin

Re pregnancy, all same as before. Bit of sickness, bit of tiredness. AGES til scan in August... Managed to freak out df with my m/c statistics last night, ie freqency of. Not to be mean, but to get him to keep quiet as long as possible.

RIGHT. Really must clean now!

McDreamy Tue 08-Jul-08 16:05:34

lol onward .........sooooooo glad it's not just me!!! grin

I sent dh a text message yesterday to let him know he had left his phone at home and did he want me to drop it in - d'oh blush

onwardandupward Tue 08-Jul-08 16:33:06

Oh McDreamy!!! Lol back at you! Dreamy indeed...

I am just HUGE compared to 9 weeks in my first pregnancy. Huge huge huge. It might be all those croissants I've been eating (I seem to be eating all day every day in order to keep the nausea down, and I'll eat anything as long as it is yoghurt or croissants. Wondering if this need for dairy is reflecting the fact that I'm still bfing, and therefore calcium loading, or whether in fact I am just going to be a 30-ton Tessie by the end of this pg lark)

rosieposey Tue 08-Jul-08 17:20:52

Hello all

have been shopping today and trying to get organised for a big housewarming bbq DP and I are having this weekend although the weather promises to put paid to that i think hmm

McDreamy I saw on the other thread that you were asking if anyone knows where there is somewhere private that you can get a nuchal scan done in Wiltshire? I have used www.beardmillclinic.com for that early viability scan - its only half an hour from Swindon and shes very good. I havent been here long enough to find anywhere else also i dont know where in Wiltshire you are going to be but Beard Mill is in Oxfordshire and isnt hard to get to at all - hope this helps! Other than that i can only think of Bristol which probably has a couple of private scan type places

Singingintherain Tue 08-Jul-08 17:30:01

Can't believe it DH just arrived home from work with goodies.

His friend went back to England at the weekend and got me some magazines, chocolate and some vitamins I asked for. He also asked for a chocolate orange as a surprise. He also came back from supermatket with loads of veg and fruit for tea.

OMG I am going to "pig out" tonight. grin

Probably too bloated to post tomorrow. smile

Mcdreamy - in Bristol, there's the Spires Health Clinic in Clifton (yah)

here

That's the one the midwives around here recommend for the nuchal scan. Pricey, but then I think nuchal scans probably are pricey wherever one goes.

Singingintherain Tue 08-Jul-08 17:50:33

I am sure that I had one of these with my last pregnancy that reached 14w with my Consultant. I did not know at the time what it was about until I read here.

Are they not a normal part of a scan at that time?

I am booked for this probably again as normal, but I am sure that my GP has got me down for an amniocentesis as well. Not sure what will happen. I think that I will have the results from the Consultant and that will determine whether or not I have the amnio.

Guitargirl Tue 08-Jul-08 18:18:36

I am 9.5 weeks now and don't think am going to be able to keep it from people at work much longer. None of my clothes fit properly anymore, except for pyjamas. And I know it's just the one in there so don't even have that excuse!

onwardandupward Tue 08-Jul-08 18:29:12

singingintherain it all depends where you live. Postcode lottery. Some lucky peeps get it free on the NHS, the rest of us have to pay

Singingintherain Tue 08-Jul-08 18:32:00

I lost loads of weight over past few months so my clothes have got bigger. I am now fitting back into them and no can tell as I look the same.

I am going to wear most of my clothes bought in November with my first MC. I never to to wear them.

I have just bought my first pair of dungarees and a dress. I can not wait to wear them, but do not want to be premature in case of MC. I have a lovely tummy band with a "?" on it. It was fun to buy, but I think I will wait a bit longer to wear it.

rosieposey Tue 08-Jul-08 18:45:21

Blimey i can tell its been a while since i was last pregnant cause i just assumed that they offered the whole nuchal thing as part of the 12 week scan that most areas offer - dont they just measure the nuchal fold as part of the scan then give you the risk? Hmmm i think i will ask what the policy here is but to be honest i got a high risk at the age of 23 with my DD2 and ended up having an amnio which i found to be v v unpleasant and got spotting afterward and stuff only to be told that her high risk was a mistake because they hadnt taken my gestational diabetes into account and it threw the results or something like that it was 13 years ago but i just didnt want any tests with dd3 after that experience. I really dont know if i want any tests this time either - do they still do the triple test? I just thought the nuchal scan in private clinics was something you paid for because it was more thorough i didnt realise that some areas dont do it at all Still everything seems to have changed - i didnt realise the new bottle feeding and making up formula policy till someone told me today lol - well hopefull will be able to BF this time so avoiding all that palava because it does sound like a bit of a minefeild! phew ...

Singingintherain Tue 08-Jul-08 18:48:27

When I had mine, I did not know it was happening. It was not until I got home and checked it out.

I did not have any bloods taken, but I might have to have some this time. It did not seem so specialist at the time it was really quick. He just said that he had measured a gap and that it looked ok for no abnormalities. That is all. I hope that it was and is sufficient.

McDreamy Tue 08-Jul-08 18:50:26

Thank you for the local information. I had a nuchal fold in Leeds last time (privately) because DS's triple test cme back as high risk. I flipped, I wasn't prepared. We weren't prepared to have the amnio but were desperate for more info. Anyway I am 37 now which increases my risk, will be too late to have it here by the time I get back and so we have decided to pay for it again. Think it' going to cost £180ish so not cheap!!!!

rosieposey Tue 08-Jul-08 18:53:03

Yep thats what i thought it was - just part of the 12 week scan where they measured the fold - dont mind if they do that in my 12 week scan ( assuming i have one ) but i dont want any other tests i dont think because i suppose there is no point as i wouldnt do anything if it was bad anyway - i am of two minds which tell me that it wouldnt hurt to be forewarned if i was expecting a child with Downs Syndrome but then again i would hate for anything to happen after a more invasive test such as an amnio - plus i remember it bloody well hurt! Like i said, tis all such a minefeild

Singingintherain Tue 08-Jul-08 18:59:50

I would really worry about an amnio as I have already had 2 mc's and this one has been a worry so far. I think that I would do as my Consultant suggested as he should know me better than anyone else and my situation. My Consultant is private, paid for through my DH's company as we do not live the in UK. He has seen me throughout my pregnancies as well as my local GP. I am sure that he will offer me all that he can to help without having to keep seeing loads of different people giving different opinions and information. I think that I am better sticking to one person for my situation.
