Tameside UK, Peri-natal women wanted to take part in beautiful arts project(1 Post)
Helllooo Mums Net!
We're Cabasa Carnival Arts, an Arts Organisation based in Mossley, Tameside, UK. We've recently secured funding to run an arts project with peri and post-natal women and are currently on the look out for anyone who'd like to take part.
We’re hoping to work with women of Tameside, giving you the empowering experience of whole body painting.
We want to work with you to tell your story and create beautiful imagery for you to keep. We will be working with an internationally recognised bodypainter and photographer (whose details I can't share just yet!) to give you an experience you'll never forget.
We're hoping to connect with people who are due to give birth between March - May 2020. You'd need to be available to be painted in January/February as a peri-natal woman and again in April - May as a post-natal woman. We haven't decided on the dates for painting just yet but will let you know as soon as we can.
This opportunity is all about you and you'll be consulted at every stage to make sure you're completely comfortable. We would also like to create an exhibition of the images taken at the end of the project, with your consent. Childcare will be available for painting days.
Through the project we want to improve your self-esteem, mental well-being and promote healthy body image for women with experience of peri/post-natal mental ill health.
We've run successful body painting workshops before, and felt that it was an overwhelming empowering experience for the participants. We now want to take it to the next level and work with women who are experiencing vast changes in themselves and don't always have the outlet to discuss these changes.
“... our bodies are almost like someone else’s body after pregnancy and birthing, it is hard to accept and you are a total stranger to your own body.” - Body Painting Participant
If you're interested in being involved, would like to know more about the project or know someone who might be interested, please send an email to us at email@example.com
Or comment below and we'd love to discuss the project further!
