January 2013 Part 7: Eviction Time!(142 Posts)
Congrats all who've joined us in the last few days!
[cupcakes I posted on the old thread too!)
I've decided on a name - Ada Ngaio.
I love the various strong women throughout history associated with the name Ada and the second name, Ngaio, is a Maori name (pronounced Ny-Oh), chosen by my partner who is from New Zealand.
Will post up my birth story when I get a thoughtful moment to write it up!
oh tugs I'm sorry. I had a failed sweep today too (cervix fine but head not engaged enough) and have spent most of the afternoon in tears because I don't want to be induced. Totally ridiculous and selfish I know when I'm lucky to be well and baby is fine. Horrible for you on your birthday. Have you got something planned for tomorrow to make Sunday come around more quickly?
lovely name bealos and nice of you to visit!
Thanks glorious Sorry you had a failed sweep too and that you were upset yesterday. I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to be induced and don't think you're being ridiculous or selfish at all. Do you know when you would be induced if it came to that? I'm quite sad that my birth plan is out the window but equally just want my baby out now. I'm completely obsessed with monitoring movements and listening to baby's heart rate and DP is getting stressed out by how stressed I am. He says he can feel the baby move when he touches my bump but I often just can't feel it. All this stress cannot be good for baby or me.
bealos lovely name for your daughter. I have a fantastic friend called Ngaio.
Tugs thats rotten on your birthday. Im glad for you that youre at least booked in for tomorrow, hang in there :-)
My sweep from thursday appears to have done nothing at all, altho they found I was 2cm dilated and I was one point off having waters broken on the Bishops score, they sent me home and nada. Im really getting fed up, getting lots of pains and finding walking and sitting uncomfortable, and havent been given an induction date, just another sweep planned for monday.
Baby is still back to back despite all my excercises, yoga and ball work. Feet and calves horribly swollen. Surely I must be nearly done now... :-( sorry for moan.
Ah bunny sorry your sweep hasn't done much. The good thing though is that you're 2cm dilated and so must be getting closer? Maybe Monday's sweep will do the job
Midwife is coming round at midday to listen in to baby's heartbeat. Going out for a walk now and then going to clean the flat so it's spick and span for when we come home.
Everyone has gone quiet...are you all off having babies?
I wish too bunny, I want to celebrate all the new mums and send you all loads of congrats, but I'm also incredibly frustrated with waiting to the point that it seems to cloud my thoughts completely.
bunny that is frustrating - hopefully all going in the right direction at least. I've got everything crossed for you.
tugs thanks. it's booked for Thursday night so a while to go but feels a bit close for comfort. I can totally understand why you're stressed, I'd be just the same. You are so nearly there now
djvesi sending you labour vibes too!
So finally... Ethan James Philemon ( don't judge me, weird family name that boys get in DHs family) was born by emergency c section at 1:30am 24th January - i had been in labour since Tuesday and literally had to be given an epidural at 3cm!!
To cut a long story short, i wasn't progressing at all so ended up in c section and we came home this afternoon.
Ethan is MASSIVE at 9lb,8oz and feeds continuously -already need to combo feed him as my boobs can't keep up with his demands!!
Congrats to all the latest new mums and sending positive labour vibes to everyone still expecting
Godz congrats, lovely name and wow what a good size.
Once again feeling so fed up, strong pains in the night like a belt of pain in lower tummy and back but still nothing :-( think ill chase up my midwife, just want to feel like somthing is progressing. Cant understand that if I was 2cm dilated on thurs, why nothing else is happening. Come on body!
Hope ur all ok and less grumpy. Good luck today Tugs!
Fair play,I feel rubbish today - hardly any sleep, so ridiculously achey that's enough now baby, time for you to make an appearance...
Cervix still intact but I was just sick, does that count for anything?
it might do katolla - sending positive thoughts.
just eaten some bombay mix in the hope the spices might do some work ...
also extremely grumpy and frustrated by regular painful braxtons which keep turning out to be nothing.
Hope it did turn out to be a good sign katolla
And good luck Tugs!
Yeah regular Braxtons are so annoying! I guess well know when it starts counting right?
bealos love the name we are doing really similar
So having been full of beans last week after the midwife told me the baby's head was fully engaged and would more than likely be here within the week, am now feeling frustrated again following this morning's appointment: head less engaged than last week (how can that be?! have walked and bounced on ball every day! Plus my pelvis aches so much!) and she wouldn't do a sweep either - says I've got to wait until I'm 7 days overdue, not 5 The good news is that baby is absolutely fine, I'm just being a mardy cow cos I'm so impatient! Roll on Wednesday afternoon
Congratulations Godz, by the way

Me too! Was really hoping my next post would be to say I'd had my baby but no. Started induction yesterday, first pessary in at 10.30am, cramps at 2pm and strong contractions at 6pm that then stopped at 9pm. Had a very bad nights sleep as my back was killing me and the noise of the ward. Internal exam this morning showed cervix hard, closed and far, far away so had second pessary put in and now playing 24 hour waiting game again to see if it has any effect and if they can break my waters. Baby's heart rate still quite low but they're keeping an eye on it. If this pessary doesn't work I'm asking for a c section.
Hope the rest of you are doing ok, I can fully sympathise with the frustration and grumpiness xx
wow tugs you are ten days over, you must be really annoyed. baby nearly here now for sure though! i'm sure your cervix will sort itself out
