It's a cosy, autumn/winter, back to school, nights darkening type programme and should be starting in mid/lat September when we're all packing away our flip flops and sun tan lotion and starting to settle back into a routine and drawing the curtains at 4.30 and putting the heating back on.

SUMMERFRUIT Mon 29-Jul-13 18:27:33

100 % with you on that one !

orangepudding Mon 29-Jul-13 18:27:38

You're right it is a cosy evening programme, shouldn't be on in the summer!

doingthesplitz Mon 29-Jul-13 18:41:03

I totally agree. I can never understand why a programme that is so tailor made for cosy Winter evenings should begin right in the middle of the holiday season. It is up there with Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife for that lovely nostalgia feeling and belongs to Winter nights all snuggled up in the warm.

And now I really want to eat a home made scone smothered in butter beside a flickering fire.

HeySoulSister Mon 29-Jul-13 18:50:08

But when it's one of those cosy autumn nights you'll be saying why can't we have it in the summer with all those cream scones/strawberry tarts/summer fruit flans! grin

ShatnersBassoon Mon 29-Jul-13 18:52:39

I totally agree. It's a curtains shut and hot drink programme.

PomBearArmy Mon 29-Jul-13 18:53:30

Please tell me that sleazy Paul Hollywood won't be on it! I couldn't stand him before, but I won't watch the show at all now if he's still on it.

stargirl1701 Mon 29-Jul-13 19:00:13

Given our weather, it might be Autumn by next month grin

MrsMangoBiscuit Mon 29-Jul-13 19:04:17

It should definitely not be starting till at least the middle of September, after I've had DD2, so I have something comfy to watch during evening cluster feeds!

IceNoSlice Mon 29-Jul-13 19:05:46

Totally agree. Which is why I'll probably watch it on iplayer in September!

YouStayClassySanDiego Mon 29-Jul-13 19:06:35

Really, back next month?

Has it always started in August or is this year just whizzing by and I've forgotten.

Agree it should be a cold evening, fire on show along with Strictly and CtM [can't stand Downton so not bothered about that]

LifeIsSoDifferent Mon 29-Jul-13 19:08:30

I agree but I'm excited that its coming back!

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts Mon 29-Jul-13 19:09:22

Yup, definitely an Autumn/Winter programme along with Call the Midwife, Downton Abbey and <coff> X-Factor blush

Katienana Mon 29-Jul-13 19:13:37

I went into labour last year when they made gingerbread! Must have been the excitement.from the structures collapsing.

curlew Mon 29-Jul-13 19:15:39

Just looked-!it's always started in August- and even earlier than this series. Why do I imagine it being in the Autumn?

PastaBeeandCheese Mon 29-Jul-13 19:16:00

YANBU. It feels like autumn viewing.

imademarion Mon 29-Jul-13 19:50:29

Please tell me that sleazy Paul Hollywood won't be on it! I couldn't stand him before, but I won't watch the show at all now if he's still on it.

Why not?

McNewPants2013 Mon 29-Jul-13 19:53:20

Yanbu it a program to be enjoyed with a cup of tea, slippers and dressing gown.

Not sweating trying to cool down.

YouStayClassySanDiego Mon 29-Jul-13 19:55:21

I can't stand PH, not because he's a shagging dickhead but because his head is so far up his own waddling arse he actually believes his own publicity!

I'll still watch it though, love the show.

JassyRadlett Mon 29-Jul-13 20:12:12

Oh no! I always think of it as September viewing as I first saw it when DS was born in September, when the series was half over.

I think it would be too cruel to show it in winter, with all that summery baking in marquees and garden parties.

Trigglesx Mon 29-Jul-13 20:48:54

Oh, what date does it start, if anyone knows offhand please?

YouStayClassySanDiego Mon 29-Jul-13 20:53:55

Giving this some thought and I do now recall the rain pounding down the sides of the marquee when it should have been gloriously warm.

Sounds right, bring it on! < rubs hands furiously grin >

curlew Mon 29-Jul-13 21:22:41

It's actually recorded in the Spring.

<worries that she has shattered people's illusions->

Fakebook Mon 29-Jul-13 21:37:57

No way. It's the type of programme you watch when the days are longer and after watching you go off into your kitchen and make a cake or bread just for the hell of it as the sky turns blue.

I watched re runs of it during early pregnancy when I was ill in bed with morning sickness and a sinus infection. It made me cry. I associate it with pregnancy now.
