To be in a rage about my Magnum ice cream?

In a bad mood so thought I'd treat myself to a Magnum.

Firstly when I opened it the chocolate shell was all smashed up so I didn't get the satisfying crack of breaking it, and shards of choc started flaking off everywhere.

Secondly, the stick was poorly placed (off-centre) meaning that within a few bites the whole ice cream was about to fall off it.

I grabbed the nearest suitable thing to save it which was a plate with DS' partially gummed bread crusts on, so the now disrobed ice cream centre got covered in breadcrumbs.

Then DS immediately smooshed his arm into the plate by throwing himself backwards, and then threw said arms at my black jeans.

AIBU to be in a boiling rage at this travesty? Knew I should have had a bloody Calippo.

Are Magnums ice creams or lollys?

Lambzig Fri 21-Jun-13 16:37:12

I think you need to buy another one and eat it after the DC are in bed.

TheCutOfYourJib Fri 21-Jun-13 16:39:16

The problem was you were already in a bad mood, so maybe you crushed it yourself.
hth grin

It was the least satisfying desert-related experience I've ever had.

No Benicio Del Toro helping me with my diamond heist, to boot.

extracrunchy Fri 21-Jun-13 16:46:51

I'm with Lambzig. You need another one when you can enjoy it in peace grin

SoleSource Fri 21-Jun-13 16:53:19

I have given up sugar as much as I can but I love the white magnums. MMM

TSSDNCOP Fri 21-Jun-13 16:59:26

Lambzig is only wrong in that you should buy one of those 3 pack beauties and scoff the lot.

TSSDNCOP Fri 21-Jun-13 17:01:57

Honey I believe they fall into the Category Ice Cream, sub group Sticked vs a chic ice which would clearly be Category Ice Cream, no sub group.

MrsBertMacklin Fri 21-Jun-13 17:03:10

YANBU and you should tell them! You will definitely get a voucher for free ice cream. Go to the Contact Us link at the bottom of their site and put 'complaint' in the box that comes up.

OccasionalTherapy Fri 21-Jun-13 17:10:56

That is most sorrowful tale I think I've ever heard on MN's worse than not realising you have in actual fact eaten the last Rolo already
...and even worse than deciding to have a pudding when out in fancy restaurant only to discover the only poxy pudding they have is cheesecake with guava drizzle.
I mean, wtf? Don't ruin my pudding with your suspiciously unfruity juice squirted over my plate! ::Bitter::

TSSDNCOP Fri 21-Jun-13 17:27:33

But Bert when one needs ones magnum fx, one needs it pronto. Not when some CS johnny gets round to his post.

No Op you need to redress the universal tilt caused by the previous disappointing Mangnum sharpish.

Get thee to a corner shop woman! Don't spare the horses.

maternitart Fri 21-Jun-13 17:39:01

Do you think I can invoice Magnum for a pink stretch Hummer taxi to the shop? Can't be bothered to walk there, and I'd hate to burn off any of the 260 calories of disappointment I've just consumed...

TSSDNCOP Fri 21-Jun-13 17:41:48

Back in the day, I friends of mine have sent taxis to purchase Silk Cut in the dead of night.

So I think a taxi ordered by the Magnum People should be just fine.

bettycocker Fri 21-Jun-13 17:46:33

I agree with MrsBertMacklin.

In fact, send them a link to this thread! grin

MrsBertMacklin Fri 21-Jun-13 18:05:25

Contact Magnum AND take it back to the shop. Get an immediate replacement from shop and report incident to Magnum HQ as 'general feedback/disappointment'

I complained to Ben & Jerry's because the peanut butter ice cream I bought only had 1 peanut butter cup in it, although it's meant to be made up of 4% peanut butter cups which equals at least 5. I still ate the ice cream, didn't have to send any packaging back, just gave them the barcode and where I bought it. I got vouchers for three tubs.

And I don't care if working out the peanut butter cup:ice cream ratio made me look like a nutter to whoever read the complaint, I got free ice cream.

StuntGirl Fri 21-Jun-13 18:07:24

mrs grin

LeGavrOrf Fri 21-Jun-13 18:13:52

Haha I have done the drunken taxi run for fags - called a taxi 'please bring a pack of benson and hedges to my address'

Your poor magnum. I remember being bitterly disappointed with a Feast once which had a very small chocolate core. The bastard.

LeGavrOrf Fri 21-Jun-13 18:15:27

Lol at berts peanut butter cup calculations.

It is the exact reverse of the joy you get when it turns out that you have got an abnormal kit Kat which is all chocolate and no wafer.

extracrunchy Fri 21-Jun-13 18:20:16

MrsBert where did you buy the peanut butter cup stuff?????? I can't find it anywhere and I NEED IT.

MrsBertMacklin Fri 21-Jun-13 18:20:44

Oh Gav, no-wafer KitKat is the confectional equivalent of a double-yolked egg. Magical and spectacular.

MrsBertMacklin Fri 21-Jun-13 18:21:51

Crunchy, it's in all the major supermarkets I've gone to. It's on a two for £7 in Sainsbury's at the moment, with the other B&J 'Core' icecreams.

If you get really stuck, let me know and I'll do a live-eating of a tub and describe it to you.

extracrunchy Fri 21-Jun-13 18:26:28

Hahaha I think that would kill me!

I am sending DH to Sainsbury's as soon as he's home. Cos I'm far too pregnant to go on my own. Yep.
