To take my DD to the park, so I can play on the swings as well..

I took my eleven month old DD to the park to play on the swings the other day and she loved it. I went on the swings too and loved it. We have been back a couple of times so I can go on them as well as DD, I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I feel ten years old again, although I don't attempt to jump off them anymore. We would go down the slide to, but my arse is too fat now!

YANBU. I always go on the swings if the park isn't busy! Enjoy grin

YANBU, Having kids gives us carte blanche to do stuff like that, lets us be kids with them, thats part of the fun.

YANBU - best way to feel young again... grin

I went on the swings today and I'm 46 blush. I think I would die in a broken heap if I tried to jump off like I used to!
I tried to go down the slide but it was ridiculously narrow. Yes really, it was!

I thought it was only fair as I wanted to go on the adult exercise equipment but it was all covered in toddlers despite every machine having a sign saying minimum age 12 years. Obviously their parents can't read or don't think it applies to their darling angel/physically gifted child.

YANBU. I love the roundabout personally! grin

Today I fed ducks, slid down a pole and went on a slide 3 times. I also got to clamber on a giant excavator.

Ds watched with minimal interest.

YANBU. Over New Year the park was empty except for me and the DCs and I swung for so long I felt a bit sick afterwards blush

YANBU. Swings are brilliant. And good for the core muscles.

I like taking my kids sledging they seem to enjoy standing watching me as they are too small / don't enjoy it. Sadly I'm too chubster for playground stuff.

Best bit about going to the park. I sneak off with dd1 (7) so we can chat and swing as high as we can. smile

Yanbu, I put DS on my lap these days if its busy to l

Fakebook Mon 18-Feb-13 06:07:03

Look like in giving him a swing, but really it's me having the fun wink

Yanbu! I love the swings ans the roundabout!

Or at least I did until the barstard council switched the flat roundabout with 1 large seat in the middle, to some ridiculous 4 tiny seats on a frame design and the flat, normal swings to great big moulded to your area ones

My arsw doesn't fit and I'm unreasonably angry over this!

area arse!

YANBU. I still like reading books I enjoyed as a child although I'm sure a lot of people would find that odd. smile

I like the ones with death slides and these other things where there are 2 seats - one either side of a tall pole that go round and round? For bigger kids (or parents!) My dc are 13 and 10 now and get a bit embarassed...

kinkyfuckery Mon 18-Feb-13 11:20:51

YANBU, as long as you are not using the swing when there is another child waiting to use it smile

Not in the slightest, I still have a Milly Molly Mandy and a Shirely Hughes collection. Also a few Jane Hissey books.. I read them when I'm feeling down lol.

YANBU but isn't your 11-month-old in a cradle type swing? Do you get yourself into the one next door? Blimey that is some epic post-baby weight loss congrats grin

I'm literally counting down days til DD can go on the big swings.

There's loads of awesome rides at our local playpark, the best is this sort of zipwire death slide with a rubber seat you put between your legs, then you back yourself up the hill and then wheeeeeeeeee. I love it.

Geekster Mon 18-Feb-13 12:19:55

That was very funny Habanada. Luckily there is the baby swing and the bigger one is right next to it. Would be good if I could fit in a baby one! But no chance!

If you can find a playground with a roundabout on which you can lie flat, with your head at the edge, and your feet towards the middle, and get another adult to push it round really really fast, you'll either love it or throw up.
(myself and a friend used to go to a quiet playground with my DD - who is now 16 - specifically to do this)

We didn't throw up (but looked fairly drunk when it stopped spinning and we stood up...)

Remotecontrolduck Mon 18-Feb-13 12:34:37

This is absolutely reasonable. Me and my 19 year old DD may have stopped the other day when walking past a quiet park to have a quick play on the swings grin

OnTheBottom an hour is so away, we have a huge outdoor adventure trail jungle jym thingy, it's free too, it's marvellous they have large scale equipment for bigger kids, including those slightly off kilter spinning discs where you can do just that! It's bloody brilliant! grin [big kid emoticon]
