I may sound a little mad here but if my house is getting on top of me I pick a room (the one that bothers me most) and take a photo. The photo makes it look much worse that it does when you live in it I then tiday it up and take an after photo to compare. This normally gives the the motivation i need! you can laugh now

No any tips gladly received . It's not just the housework it's a feeling that no matter how many hours I waste/spend doing things I just have to start again tomorrow. Sorry I sound really doomed. Maybe there are people out there who leap out of bed every morning and a re thrilled at another day of picking up other people's crap! OMG I sound like I need t o get a life sorry

You might find something interesting in the mess. I always do. Even cash, sometimes.

LOL, no, stop the X-factor... it's the X-Factor that's demoralising you!!

Pour yourself another Gin and go watch Come Dine with Me in C4...

It is crap -I like the saying 'It's not the boredom it's the kitchen floordom'.
The thing is it's a hamster's wheel of the same old shit for everyone.
Get it done as quickly as possible, derive a morsel of satisfaction from doing it well and then go and do something more interesting instead.
It helps me to remember that my 'rewarding' profession is often as boring as housework and most people are not doing anything more exciting than me at any given time.
I am a great 'stuffer' - stuff everything in a cupboard/bag/basket, clean floor and leave room - resolve to deep clean another day.

Think I will take up stuffing too! At least then I won't be tripping over everyone's crap! I think that's what is so annoying it's not even MY CRAP!

I love the 10minute timer rule when I am feeling like I can't be arsed, put the timer on do as much as possible in 10minutes and then have a large glass of wine.

GET RID OF STUFF. The less stuff the easier it is to clean and tidy up. Buy boxes for the stuff you can't thrown away that you can just fling the stuff into.

And this is the one I remind myself of when I am cleaning the kitchen tops for the umpteenth time that day - If I keep on top of things then it doesn't take as long.

God housework is drudgery.

I love that rule! But if i try that and drink a glass of wine every time I do 10 minutes housework I probably would be unable to walk by lunchtime but it's definetly worth a try!

Well you see the added beauty of the plan is by then you won't care about the mess either....

How about this one?

List 5 chores and ! treat ,like having a bath or reading a book.

Number them

find a dice and do each thing as it comes up for 10 - 15 mins!!

Makes it slightly more interesting---maybe?!

it is drudgery

put music on very loud, music you can sing along to that stops you thinking about the really boring things you are doing

sometimes a working girl moment helps me -- running around doing it in my underwear after getting up then straight in the shower and a good start to the day (at ahem maybe 1030 but STILL)

ok don't know why i shared that but loud music and underwear make it more tolerable for me anyway

ps i don't get off on it it's just sort of easier and you don't worry about getting your clothes mucky or your shirt coming out of your wwaistband etc

I know but I always think "I'll just have 1" only to be found in a corner 2 hours later blubbering that nobody loves me. It never used to have that effect but maybe I'm getting old!
