AIBU?

to think that the use of Whoop Whoop by 30 somethings is a bit sad?

Just checked Facebook, and have seen so many of my friends using "Whoop Whoop" and "Good Times" on their status updates.
These are people in their mid-30s, one is off to an event that I know will not even slightly be worthy of one Whoop, let alone 2.

And what the flying feck is "Toot Toot"?

And yes, I am perfectly willing to concede that I am an Old Gimmer

I'm 32 - what do the words mean?

I have absolutely no idea.
But they are everywhere.

So,
XXX is off to XXX (think boring function) tonight, Whoop Whoop!

As a status update.
From a man that you just know wears slippers and pyjamas.

I had to ask what this meant and whether people say it out loud in real life.

The thing is the friend of mine that wrote it is the last person I could ever imagine whoop whooping.
I know what you mean about the pevic floor mine nearly did give up on me when I read this thread then opened FB at the same time.

God I am turning into a grumpy old bag I am going to need a cats bum emoticon soon I think.

I think that whoop whoop means like yay, yipee that kind of thing, i have no problems with that, its people who use slang on Facebook lit wot and not ending their sentances with ing.

OP - was your friend being sarcastic? It sounds more of a sarcastic remark to me. At least it would be if it was my status!

I Woohoo, Yay, eugh and ewwwww , but can claim that I am not yet in my 30's! (until next year anyway )

No sense of irony at all, vengeful, he truly was excited!
You can se Whooop Whoop, you are not yet 30, in fact, I think it is mandatory for your age group (don't even get me started on my 2 teen brother's FB posts, Piglet, I need a translator!).

Wasn't there a song in the 80's 'Don't mess with my toot toot'? (Showing my age here). Don't have a clue what it means though.

"When you were born in your birth suit, the doctor slapped your behind, he said 'you're going to be special, you sweet little toot toot' ".

Why are those lyrics in my brain?

Though they could be very wrong, I was very wee when it was out.

Ah, but why is Toot Toot used in the same way as Whoop Whoop then?

I remember the "Don't mess with my Toot Toot" song, "You know you'll never blah blah blah......"

YABU
I really dont see what's wrong with woot woot

Its very hard to put over in writing how chuffed you are for someone (like a friend who has just announced herself just 1 lb off from having lost 7 stone) when you dnt have the benefit of italics, underlines, bold etc etc

I dont honestly see what being 30 something has to do with it myself.
But then to be fair I do indeed still say Hurrah and Woohoo in real life and out loud ...

Woot Woot???
Liking the amalgamation of the two better than the originals Dreamteam .

It's not so much that, and yes, I do use Hurrah!, it's people who you know are v staid and not exactly down with da kidz (get me) trying to get with yoof culture.

lockets you are wrong, tis well known that the two-handed motion to which you refer accompanies a chant of "go [name], go [name]". I have seen my niece and nephew do it .

Ineedacleaner we so need a catsbum emoticon. Given the recent success of the biscuit lobbying, do you think we should start a thread?

Am I the only one who feels the sudden need to post a FB status update with one or all of Whoop Whoop/Toot Toot/Good Times?

Think the sleep deprivation might be kicking in - woohoo!
