I know, I spent an hour doing an online shop, just to find out at checkout that they did not take it. i was .
Sainsburys do, though. And now I do all my shopping with them! Maybe Sainsburys will have the pressies you are after!

i didnt think anywhere took visa electron other than instore - i know when i worked in a shop it was the one card you could never type the number in - it has to be swiped. iirc all other cards store all the info in the long number across the front of the card but visa electron does not - all info is in the strip/chip.

Visa Electron cards are supposed to be used in the first person i.e. you have to actually be in the store. If you are ordering online they should be declined. Some merchants will allow them to go through but they take the transaction as unsecured at their own risk - they run the risk of having their merchant account closed etc. going agains TOS.

This is a Scheme rule not a merchant rule so YABU.

I have used mine online loads too - in fact I think Tesco is one of only a very few who haven't taken it - and i shop online a lot

Tesco and Ocado only ones that haven't accepted it for me.

I make payments with

EON
Very (used to be Littlewoods direct)
Asda
The Trainline
Perfect Pizza
and a whole host of others that I can't currently remember - but some of them regular monthly payments.
