Yesterday we were mega busy at work, phones going off the hook, so when I recieved a telesales call, I forwarded to admin. A few minutes later I got a very harsh and abrupt call from the admin person who told me that the telesales call would actually be for my line manager and how 'fucking shit' it looks that this woman is passed from pillar to post. We always, always pass telesales calls to this woman, and because we were so busy with customers out the door I wasn't about to go into detail what this woman wanted. Anyway, I was a bit hmm aabout how admin woman talked to me, I apologised and that was that but this admin woman is renowned throughout our dept for telling our dept manager (who is a busybody at the best fo times) all our mistakes (number 1 shitstarer in the north!) and I feel like i'm in for a earful from dept mgr when I go in today all for the tiny little thing. I hate work sometimes!

Do people where you work usually swear at each other? We would discipline someone who spoke to a colleague the way she spoke to you.

Go in and if you get grief then raise a complaint about her language.

Agree with callmeovercautious - swearing is not on and should be reported.

I work in customer services but the rudeness that really upsets us/makes us furious is rudeness from staff members (in other departments). There is no excuse for it. Even if someone makes a mistake.

I have felt like you have but luckily we have good managers.

YANBU but not going in will only prolong it/make it worse. Go in with your head held high and explain what happened from your perspective.

Thanks for your very quick replies.

I am definately going in today, wouldn't let my team members down. We definately do not use bad language and I wouldn't dream ever of speaking to any colleagues the way she spoke to me.

Could you make a complaint first? I don't see any reason for her speaking to you like that.
