AIBU?

to expect retailers not to advertise FREE MAINLAND UK DELIVERY

when actually they charge extra delivering just about anywhere north of Perth! Last time I checked, getting home from down south did NOT involve a ferry crossing.. AIBU to be annoyed with such limited geographical understanding!

oh yes. dh's family are in n ireland & do you know how many firms say 'free delivery within the uk' then say NI isn't in the uk?

how ignorant are they?

.. I can appreciate that sometimes charges are higher and I can live with it if they charge at cost. But the mainland claims bug me no-end though.. like we've all fallen off the map and drifted into sea...

us too, we are actually in moray but royal mail et al lump us in with the highlands. Next day delivery is never next day either!

Drives me mad. No free delivery sometimes no delivery at all outside the mainland and next day delivery means around 5 days.

When we lived in Lossiemouth we had an Invernes postcode, which obviously means that it's in the middle of the highlands down a single track road . Same with st Andrews "oh sorry Mrs Saltire, you are in the highlands and islands" "no I'm not I'm in Fife, only an hour north of Edinburgh and no ferry crossing"

I totally agree. YANBU
I actually do live in the highlands, but, as you said oricella last time I came home, I didn't miss a road and end up in Orkney, even if my postcode does begin with KW

ah well.. they probably thought up free mainland delivery back in the days of the Forth ferry (and when the world was flat!) It's very, very wee Britain!

On the plus side - we do seem to get our general mail quicker than the poor people in London

I actually saw delivery condition as being "to England and Wales only" - call for additional prices to Scotland. FFS I know there is a border between England and Scotland but you dont need a passport to cross it (although some Scots may argue that it would be a good idea
