To think it's absolutely bloody disgusting how the paparazzi can't respect the bereaved?

I have just seen something on the news regarding Stephen Gately's death and it showed Stephens DP looking understandably sad with a load of MoFo paparazzi trailing behind him not giving a shit. Can't they leave him in peace at this time ffs?!?!

YANBU its shocking.

Unfortunately, its their job.

Been on the receiving end of it with DW and it is extremely unplesant to have 50 blokes run at us us with flash guns in the street or camp outside the house - absolutely nothing we could do about it though as it is a public place.

I feel sorry for a lot of celebrities who have to suffer it every day or in circumstances like this.

I agree and the only thing that we can all do is to refuse to buy the magazines and papers that print this rubbish. The paps only pap because the photos sell.

YANBU at all I just said the exact same thing to DH1.

We know SG has died, we know his partner is going to be devastated, I for one do not need to see photos of this poor man, nor any other grieving person,

Some people have no respect at all

Its not just public figures though,
And as far as I know this chap is only in the public eye because his partner was

SG was in a boyband, as far as I know his partner was not "famous" for anything

bentneckwine1 Tue 13-Oct-09 19:29:42

It was the scene of the body being wheeled out on a trolley wrapped only in a bodybag. Totally disrespectful...he is not even resting in his coffin which could be argued to be a more poignant scene worthy of showing.

magicOC Tue 13-Oct-09 19:31:09

Riven - think kimi was refering to the partner of SG not being in the public eye.

Agree with OP. I also hate it when they showed the body bag, was the same with MJ, diana etc etc etc.

Going back to the dunblane disaster, I just knew thre would be a picture in the newspaper of one of the coffins (even tho funerals were held in private) and sadly I was proved right. The Sun newspaper had one in it and from the way it was taken they must have had a helicopter overhead. angry

Why cant they just report the facts and leave the sensationalism out of it.

NeedaNewName Tue 13-Oct-09 19:33:13

Well they think it sells and I guess it does. As someone else said all you can do is boycott those papers and magazines until they stop doing it and maybe write to them and let them know - not that I imagine that doing any good but you never know

stuffitllllama Tue 13-Oct-09 19:36:22

It doesn't matter.

magicOC Tue 13-Oct-09 19:36:26

I did call The Sun with regards to a pic of the 7/7 bus. Wont go into details here as too recent and too upsetting for some, but, I told the guy my concerns, he said I was mistaken and put the phone down on me hmm

PeedOffWithNits Tue 13-Oct-09 19:41:21

OP - YANBU, but its not just with celebs, its ordinary bereaved families too - and the crassness of reporters who say to bereaved parents "you must be devastated" or "tell us how this has affected your family" - it makes my blood boil

bigchris Tue 13-Oct-09 19:43:49

just a few weks ago they published a picture of a wife and her son of a soldier who was killed... at his funeral sad
