to want John and Edward to win the x-factor?

After Alexandra Burke's mimed performance on the x-factor last night, and the sheer stupidity of John and Edward being in the finals, I think the whole thing is a farse that is not designed to find new talent but is designed to find acts that fit a certain standard, to which we as the public must conform.

John and edward are ghastly individuals. But they are there purely for the amusement factor and to cause tention between the judges on the show.

I think that it's time the public took a stand and show the producers that if they make certain decisions, it could have consequences.

Thus, while I can't stand John and Edward, I think that for them to win would be highly, highly amusing, and justice in a way.

Yes. Next question.

But then they would be left with the impression that they were in fact cool and talented. And that would be Really Annoying.

perhaps. And yes of course they're shit. But clearly Alexandra doesn't have what it takes either if she couldn't even perform live on the show she won.

and they'll probably get a record deal out of this anyway - let's face it, the ones who come second/third usually do better than the winner, Leona Lewis being the only exception..

it's a TV show and is meant for entertainment - it does what it says on the tin: entertains smile

daisydora Mon 12-Oct-09 10:14:18

Yes YABU, they make me feel ill.

Re: Alexandra, she showed she could sing last year...but 'twas a bit disappointing that she mimed. still at least she hasn't released a warbly ballard like mostwink

"it's a TV show and is meant for entertainment - it does what it says on the tin: entertains." There you go. It would be entertaining if they won. grin

yup - that's why they are there, they always have a rubbish/controversial/sad one on.
A show that simply had good singers, no arguments with the judges, etc etc leading to the best one winning would be rather boring.

UnquietDad Mon 12-Oct-09 10:21:29

Would a "warbly ballard" be a musical version of "Empire of the Sun"?

bigchris Mon 12-Oct-09 10:22:18

she mimed ? shock

thighsmadeofcheddar Mon 12-Oct-09 10:22:53

do you think cheryl will mime on sunday? or will she actually sing live?

bigchris Mon 12-Oct-09 10:23:23

princessmel Mon 12-Oct-09 10:23:49

Why was she miming though??

oh and yabu J+A are terrible.

NyeEve Mon 12-Oct-09 10:24:12

their uniquely UNimgainative name is a good starter.

SparklyGothKat Mon 12-Oct-09 10:24:39

I thought it was the backing track we could hear, and then she sang over it

UnquietDad Mon 12-Oct-09 10:25:19

I agree with Sparkly - it was live singing. Heavily augmented by backing, but still live.

scarletlilybug Mon 12-Oct-09 10:27:36

I would recommend reading "Chart Throb" by Ben Elton. You'll never look at a show like this in the same way again.

UnquietDad Mon 12-Oct-09 10:28:45

It always amazes me that there aren't more mistakes.

wannaBe Mon 12-Oct-09 10:31:01

watch her mouth and listen to the singing - it's not live

notwavingjustironing Mon 12-Oct-09 10:32:32

Did anyone else think that Robbie looked, well, a bit "starey" at the end - like he was out of it?

Or do you think it was just nerves?

KnickersandVests Mon 12-Oct-09 10:32:40

YABU they're just too shit.
