AIBU?

AIBU to get someone to clean my oven cos I can't face doing it myself?

I have no one to blame but myself as it was new two years ago and I've never cleaned it... ever

Is this normal?? Will the oven cleaning persons recoil in disgust?!

What is the limit for oven slovenliness... come on mumsnet barometer... I need answers!

No. Fantastic company called www.ovenu.com (or .co.uk) were absolutely brilliant.

Life is too short to stress yourself about your bloody oven!

I've been thinking about this.
What do they charge roughly? Do you know?

Best £50 I've ever spent, my oven was like new when they'd finished. Do it!!

I think it's from £30 which seems a good deal, I'd gladly pay more than that to just not have to do it myself!!

YANBU
You will not lie on your death bed and wish you'd cleaned your oven yourself.

I think I paid £75-80. That was for cleaning the oven and hob and replacing the light in the oven.

Truly it was fantastic. It looked as if I had bought new appliances.

I get DH to do ours, but if I knew of someone who could come and make it sparkle, I would pay! Honestly - life is too short for any job that involves rubber gloves.

Been a few years since mine got done , think of it as providing others with employment in these testing times ..

I get someone to clean my entire house cause I am too bloody lazy. I have the time, I just can't be arsed.

So you are definitely not being unreasonable IMO.

i got a quote for mine last year - its was £70! one day - im going to do this.

on another note its really nice to find other slovenly non oven cleaning folk....i feel im among friends!

mine was brand new 3 years ago. ive cleaned it - (about once a year.)

my reasoning is no germs can live in there - it gets too hot!

yanbu. I've given up trying to do it with 2 pre-schoolers. I'm convinced they will die if they get a whiff of the chemicals. It hasn't been done in about 2 years.

This has reminded me to get someone in to do it and get grandma to take them out while it's being done.

yanbu, it's the best £30 I've spent in ages. They take all the stuff out to their van to clean it so it doesn't even smell or dirty your sink. I get mine done every six months. The DH thinks it's a waste but has been told that he can clean it if he doesn't want to pay it. It works out at just over a pound a week round here (up north) so it's well worth it.

We attempted to clean our oven last weekend. What a joke. Couldn't make tea as it still had the stuff on...so we rinsed it off half cleaned and shelved it for 'another day' I would pay someone to do it without question if I could afford it. Until then last months pizza will remain!

Isn't it funny when you realise that there a re loads of people out there that don't clean their ovens. I thought I was the only one that hung a tea towel over the handle so you cant see the filth within
