Nearly a year ago DH had a lot of trouble with work and he was treated very badly, resulting in us being in debt crisis. His work's actions were all illegal and he now earns less than half.
Part of debt crisis is moving the bank account as his is in so much trouble he has loads of charges and they eat his wages. We now have a payment plan with the bank. His employer pays his wages into my account.

This week they accidentally paid some of his wages (that they forgot in the main wage pay) into his old account. And the bank has swallowed it and so he has to pay them back as they've paid the same into my account.

Am I unreasonable to think if they made the error they should cover the cost?

If you have a payment plan, would the bank not only take what was agreed?

I think your issue here is with the bank. Surely if you agree a payment plan they can't take more? Bloody well ring them up and give them an ear bashing and tell them to put the money back

I would!

I think legally his work are within their rights to ask for the money back if they've paid him more than he should have got. BUT they should also be reasonable in how you pay them back ie you shuld be able to pay them back in installments over a set time. As this was their mistake I think morally they should be helpful!

Any chance the bank would refund the money?? Best of luck
