when you hear 40 + year old women saying " oh it was hilarious on face book"

you think hmm

sticktoyourgins Mon 05-Oct-09 09:25:12

Is it OK for her to say this when she is 39?

TrinityRhino Mon 05-Oct-09 09:26:37

get out of the wrong side of the bed today??

HowlingAtTheMoon Mon 05-Oct-09 09:31:50

I secretly agree but probably YABU and so am I.

<heads off to see how to join FB>

GetOrfMoiLand Mon 05-Oct-09 09:35:29

Never been on facebook. Refuse to. Think it's something for teenagers.

See so many threads on here 'oh I saw that he had written messages on her wall' or whatever, I always think oh fgs.

Same as twitter. Who gives a flying fuck really. <old gimmer emoticon>

PVish Mon 05-Oct-09 09:36:05

i think teenagers
I agree with ALL GOML types

GetOrfMoiLand Mon 05-Oct-09 09:36:42

It's like people who row via text. Is something 15 year olds do.

SoupDragon Mon 05-Oct-09 09:37:15

Agree. I am a Facebook refusenik.

OTOH, it it really that much different to a 40 year old woman saying "It was hilarious on Mumsnet..." ?

claw3 Mon 05-Oct-09 09:38:47

Agree totally everyone knows when you are 40+ you use MN.

PVish Mon 05-Oct-09 09:39:19

wink

uberalice Mon 05-Oct-09 09:39:37

Posting on AIBU is much more grown up that going on facebook.

I like Facebook.. it's an ideal way to keep in touch on a daily basis with distant friends and relatives.

I've got a few friends I can talk about MN with... anyone else just looks at me blankly!

PVish Mon 05-Oct-09 09:39:59

GOML
you would be shock hwo often i hear that in really serious sitations in my other line of work

TheFoosa Mon 05-Oct-09 09:40:15

I don't tell anyone I am on MN

hf128219 Mon 05-Oct-09 09:40:29

Exactly SD! What is so different about MN? grin

PVish Mon 05-Oct-09 09:41:00

er

<shuffles>
its not designed for pubescent wkd drinkers

GetOrfMoiLand Mon 05-Oct-09 09:42:33

I say to dd "are you on that stupid facebook again sending inane messages to friends when you have just seen them at school 2 hours ago pfft what a waste of time"

DD says to me "are you on MN again talking to strangers about how to boil ham and how much you all fancy Kevin McCloud?" <cue curling lip>

Fair point. Usually shuts me up (for a short while).

claw3 Mon 05-Oct-09 09:44:36

You get a better class of wkd drinkers on MN.

Dont you just hate it when people use FB to stay in touch with family and friends. I have a phone/address book for that.

GetOrfMoiLand Mon 05-Oct-09 09:45:41

Also lots of dd's teachers on FB, they know when the teachers are going out on a Saturday night.

Are the teachers mad?. I mean, why add the kids you teach to facebook. Nuts.

SoupDragon Mon 05-Oct-09 09:45:43

Today's WKD drinkers are the Sauvingnon Blanc drinkers of tomorrow.

GibbonInARibbon Mon 05-Oct-09 09:46:07

I use facebook (though not the apps) I think it is a fab way to stay in touch with friends and I have been lucky enough to meet a very old and dear friend after many years of no contact thanks to Facebook.

HTH

TheFoosa Mon 05-Oct-09 09:46:22

the telephone, how very old-school

overmydeadbody Mon 05-Oct-09 09:48:05

40+ women really should know better shouldn't they?

<<shakes head>>

Everyone should have better sense than to drink WKD drinks though, surely no self-respecting MNer would admit to such blatant common lack of taste?

GibbonInARibbon Mon 05-Oct-09 09:48:06

Yes, yes the old 'I can write/e mail/phone if I want to be in touch with someone'

Yes you can. Others can use Facebook...is it that big a deal?

frazzled74 Mon 05-Oct-09 09:48:10

I am on facebook and it is a good way of getting in touch with old colleagues/school friends and family. I dont do all the farmville and mafia wars stuff, and Idont go on it daily but certainly dont think that its a twatty thing to do.
