...and wondering if I can get away with wearing them again tomorrow.

I have hardly any clothes that fit (recently lost 2 stone and cant afford much new) and my 6 year old Levis finally fit. My first day off work (Wed) I wore them - they have no dirty marks or stains on them, and I have worn them every day since without washing them. Am now wondering if I can get away with wearing them tomorrow, before work Monday. Its horrible washing/drying weather at the moment, so surely if they are cleanish I can get away with wearing them?!

AIBU?

Do they pass the sniff test ?

YANBU but you are being a bit ewwww!

I wear stuff once then it goes in the wash. Unless it was just for a few hours or if it's a cardigan which gets worn twice then washed.

OMG I wear my jeans for weeks days without washing. Am I a complete slattern? What is an acceptable time to wear them for??

If they have no marks and don't smell, they're clean. Honestly, don't wash more than you have to - it wears clothes out faster and is a waste of energy / effort.

As long as the crotch doesn't stink of fish you will be okay.

Wore the same pair for 2 weeks recently while moving house. Had also lost a lot of weight so struggling to find anything to wear.

Not as a general rule that long. Four days does not seem so bad.

ha ha ha - no, crutch definately doesnt smell!

I cant get away with wearing tops for more than one day, but somehow round two young children my jeans have stayed clean - and still smell of Bold 2in1

am glad I'm not the only one who thinks jeans can last this long.....

Once?
I wear T-shirts and blouses just once, and underwear of course.
But I wear trousers for days at a stretch, unless I'm really messy and spill something on them.

My trousers don't get smelly at all.

I try and wear an apron (very Bree Van de Camp) when I am at home with the kids because it does protect my clothes but other than jeans, the majority of my clothes get washed after one wear. With 3 DDs (2 under 2), I am minging by 10am 7pm. Jeans though I tend to wear around 2/3 times then wash them. As long as they look clean I prefer the feel of jeans when they are a bit worn in.

Well, fanny said what we were all thinking, didn't she?

Of course yanbu for wearing a pair of jeans for 4 days running. YA not at all BU.

Otoh, I cannot help but feel extremely judgey about the people who wash all their clothes after one wear. Undies, socks, shirts, and tops that go right next to the armpits can be washed after one wear. Everything else can and should be worn again IMVHO.

I check for stains and sagginess and if ok then they go on again.
Too much washing- very bad for the environment don't you know.

not at you OP, but at those who wash everything after one wear. How do they manage it, I always have plenty of washing as it is, and as for the elec bills and the environmental impact - so wrong

minko · 03/10/2009 19:01

Jeez - think of the environment you crazy ladies! One wear and you wash jeans?! They'll be faded and falling apart in a month. Jeans are supposed to hard-wearing. Sniff and stain test more than sufficient. I wear mine for about a week at a time!

minko · 03/10/2009 19:02

Ooo, cross post of environmental lentil munchers there!

Report
fannybanjo · 03/10/2009 19:02

PeedOff - I agree re environment etc but with milk stains and food odours from cooking for 3 children, my clothes would look positively rank if I wore them more than once. If I have had a particularly clean day though I always wear the same outfit the next day.

i wear my jeans for about a week before washing them, they definitely dont stink

jeans are meant to be durable and hardwearing

ChasingSquirrels · 03/10/2009 19:03

I wear jeans for upto a week before washing probably - unless they are obviously dirty or stained.

My housemate at uni only ever used to wash her jeans once a semester.. so about three or four times a year

I wash mine when dirty, whenever that might be.. which can be an hour or a week! Usually a few days though!

YANBU, why wash if you don't need to? There is a label in the back of my jeans that says "If I'm not dirty, then wash at 30!" and I object to the jolly personification of my jeans who are instructing me to wash after every wear. I want a pair that say "Check for stains in any obvious areas then sniff crotch area. If nothing too offensive then just sling me over the back of the chair until tomorrow and that will save you washing and ironing me! If unsure on the sniff test, then abit of febreeze should do it for another day."

as long as they pas the crutch test you be reet.

WhereYouLeftIt · 03/10/2009 19:43

Since they pass the 'sniff test' I really don't see the problem - YANBU. I'm a little shocked that some wash jeans after every wear. Some garments just don't need that level of laundry!
