To pay for non entity
charley boorman to go on holiday?

He is on BBC 2 right now, the useless fat fuck

HeadFairy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:07:29

As BBC staff I'd normally defend the licence fee to the edge of the earth, but I'll give you that one

HeadFairy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:08:37

switch over to Channel 4, the lovely Kevin McCloud is recreating the grand voyage. Fabulous architecture!

smallorange Sun 27-Sep-09 21:15:35

At least we are not paying for the lovely kevin to have a nice holiday.
But charley boorman? He must have dropped to his knees and thanked the lord the day the BBC agreed to that one.

What goes on at the beeb to make commissioning editors think we want to see this shite? On a Sunday night when most of us are contmplating another week as a wage slave, next holiday Christmas.

I think channel 4 is part publicly funded, not sure if that comes through the licence fee or through taxation.. I have a feeling a portion of the licence fee does go to channel 4.

smallorange, if ever there was a case of someone riding on the coat tails of their more popular, richer, more attractive friends it's Charley Boorman. His dad's not a bad director though....

Wonderstuff Sun 27-Sep-09 21:19:55

(we do pay for C4 though don't we? They get some taxes)

TeeteringOnTheEdge Sun 27-Sep-09 21:20:16

One of the "need to find themselves" fuckers.

Have a look at your kids, you might spot a bit of yourself there. Oh wait, you can't, your on a lads holiday on the other side of the world.

Ponders Sun 27-Sep-09 21:21:18

who was Charlie Boorman before he went off on a motorbike with slimy Ewan?

HeadFairy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:22:17

My mistake, it was originally funded by ITV, but now it's self financing. However it has been bailed out by the government when it had a £14m funding gap in 2007. So we do own a bit of it...

smallorange Sun 27-Sep-09 21:22:30

There has been a rash of these programmes recently ( thinking of jamie's desperate attempts to articulate his experiencein the US) is a 'grand tour' built into their contracts now? Will we soon have Jordan hits Jordan?

Hulababy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:22:50

Hmmm...I like the programme though.

Better than a lot of the rubbish nrmally on.

HeadFairy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:24:27

Ponders - he starred in one film coincidentially directed by his dad.

TeeteringOnTheEdge Sun 27-Sep-09 21:24:32

National Geographic does it without the annoying English bloke.

TeamEdwardTango Sun 27-Sep-09 21:24:54

My DH thinks you're all out of order.
I think we should switch over to Dirty Dancing...

TeeteringOnTheEdge Sun 27-Sep-09 21:26:43

Nobody leaves Charlie in the corner.

HeadFairy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:28:30

TeamEd, is your Dh charley boorman?

TeamEdwardTango Sun 27-Sep-09 21:31:12

I carried a watermelon...

Ponders Sun 27-Sep-09 21:35:25

Oh thank you, HeadFairy - just as I thought smile

Have you seen his kids' names? Doone Yasmin and Kinvara Atalanta? shock

HeadFairy Sun 27-Sep-09 21:37:28

Such a pretentious twat, I bet he lives in a "tumble down old farmhouse in Dorset" that actually cost £5.2 mill and the "kids just flop about the farm" (in their photoshoot perfect tousled Boden/Joules clothing)

Bitter? Moi?

chegirl Sun 27-Sep-09 21:47:38

Laughing my head off at this thread. Cos its well funny!

I dont watch those programmes they drive me bonkers. Who wants to watch rich posh blokes getting down with the natives?

<snurk> @ look at your kids comment grin

smallorange Sun 27-Sep-09 21:47:57

It' just so fucking annoying. And dp won't let us watch dirty dancing- says it's seedy. Snot seedy. It's lovely.

( takes another slug of wine)

may have to go to bed now

Wonderstuff Sun 27-Sep-09 21:57:25

'He must have dropped to his knees and thanked the lord the day the BBC agreed to that one.'
Just said that to dh. He said bet his wife did too.

AnyFucker Sun 27-Sep-09 23:33:10

oh, but although free-loading Charley is a bit grubby and needs to wash his hair every few weeks or so...I so would grin

but I wouldn't make a family with him

he is a find-himself twat
