to think DH could make more effort on the personal hygiene front?

Until recently he has done a manual job which left him filthy.

He would shower and shave as soon as he got home from work and go to work in the morning, as he fell out of bed (did brush his teeth)

At weekends he would have 1 shower and 1 shave a day. i.e if he was going to be gardening later, "there's no point showering in the morning" regardless of what might have gone on during the night wink, or how warm it was etc.

I always, without fail shower when I get up. If I need another one later, I have it.

I work (in an office) with a load of lovely, sweet smelling, perfumed men and I do find myself wishing that he'd make the same effort.

He now works in a office, but has stuck to the same routine and always comes home stinking, which must be horrid for those he works with. It's weekends that bother me TBH, because he's just not nice to kiss/cuddle unless it's within an hour or so of his evening shower.

He also refuses to shave more than once a day. I know some men don't need to, but he does and because he shaves in the early evening, he spend most of the day looking (and feeling) decidedly unshaven.

Point out to him that someone might say something to him at work that he smells and how much more blush that would be rather then listening to his wife.

hotbot Sun 27-Sep-09 19:52:19

welll...... no shower , no shag !!!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight Sun 27-Sep-09 19:57:15

So he showers and shaves in the evening but goes to work unshaven and smelly? That's a bit silly, especially if he works in an office. But at least he showers every day!

diddl Sun 27-Sep-09 19:58:22

He´s being ridiculous!

lisbey Sun 27-Sep-09 20:00:23

LOL hotbot. That's why he showers in the evening "for you" (me)

Danthe4th Sun 27-Sep-09 20:01:33

yuk nothing worse than working with a smelly man!!!

costagirl Sun 27-Sep-09 20:02:34

YANBU and I sympathise. My DH doesn't shower etc as much as I think he should - works in a sporting environment so in smelly trainers all day every day - I think he should shower every night when he comes in, but some nights he baths with the kids, others he doesn't do anything and showers in the morning! Yuck! Gets into bed without showering after a hot day (in the summer) out on the sports pitches. Rank, but he won't listen to me. Good luck.

lisbey Sun 27-Sep-09 20:11:35

So how hurtful would it be to show him this thread?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana Sun 27-Sep-09 20:13:55

If he showers and shaves every day, then surely the issue must be that he doesn't use antiperspirant or something? surely one shower a day is enough for anyone unless they do something very physical or dirty that necessitates having another.

bigchris Sun 27-Sep-09 20:14:29

god if i were a bloke i wouldnt shave twice a day

Podrick Sun 27-Sep-09 20:19:45

I am with James on this one

AnyFucker Sun 27-Sep-09 23:39:27

some people are obsessed with removing all traces of themselves on their body....I find it weird

one shower a day is perfectly adequate

I am with your dh on this

I think you sound a bit mad, no-one "stinks" like you describe after a few hours in the office (unless he is a jungle cat ?)

is there anything else about your husband you cannot stomach ?

colditz Sun 27-Sep-09 23:47:24

You've got issues. I would much rather bed a slightly ripe slightly hairy man than some smooth beperfumed fop.

AnyFucker Sun 27-Sep-09 23:48:16

lol @ fop

< yuk >

ThatVikRinA22 Sun 27-Sep-09 23:57:39

so does anyone else have issues with skiddy boxer shorts then or is that just me..., (sorry op - thread hyjack)

SardineQueen Mon 28-Sep-09 00:04:13

YABU sounds like enough washing and shaving to me.

Loving colditz turn of phrase on this one grin

BustleInYourHedgerow Mon 28-Sep-09 00:04:53

It's just you.

vInTaGeVioLeT Mon 28-Sep-09 00:24:41

erm not sure if this thread is for real ?
one shave and shower a day should be plenty but i think he should change his routine and shave and shower before he goes to work now that he's working in an office he should be clean shaven for work surely?

TigerDrivesAgain Mon 28-Sep-09 00:28:45

You should try being married to my DH. He's from the "one bath a week if it's a holiday" school of thought.

Frankly, YABU if you think a man who bathes once a day is smelly.

Pikelit Mon 28-Sep-09 00:37:02

I don't believe in Godliness but do go along with the theory that cleanliness is next to it.

Give me a perfumed flop between the sheets any day.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana Mon 28-Sep-09 00:39:59

Pikelit, it's one thing to have a perfumed fop between the sheets but a perfumed flop sounds distinctly unappealing. grin

Pikelit Mon 28-Sep-09 00:53:48

I seem to be having a problem with my imagination!

nappyaddict Mon 28-Sep-09 01:39:36

YABU. I don't shower in the morning if I've had one the night before. Well i might if i've had a shag - i don't really recall if i do every time or not tbh. I can understand why when doing a manual job he would shower when he got in from work but working in an office doesn't exactly build up a sweat so I can't see that he would need to shower then but if he wants to that's up to him. If I shave my legs in the evening I wouldn't shave them again in the morning but I suppose that's different?

alwayslookingforanswers Mon 28-Sep-09 01:45:04

I often shower in the evening (well all the time at the moment with no-one to watch DS3 in the mornings) - don't then shower again the morning.

In fact if I've got something on the next day in the morning I've always showered the night before so I don't have to do it in the morning. Quick "bits and pits" swish and swipe in the morning, squirt of deo and set to go - no faffing around with showering, washing hair, drying hair etc etc etc
