for an hour, which would finish at 4.20, she shouldnt have had to sneak out of the classroom to ring me at 4.55 to say she was still at science club and would be home later?

Science club is scheduled to run for an hour, from 3.20 to 4.20. There is only 3-4 of them who go each week. Normally to make sherbert or something. DD is 12, and gets the bus home when she finishes late at school (bus rides are complicated for her, and take some planning!) SO, instead of getting her normal 4.30 bus, she had to get the 5.10 one. Not a problem really, as it is the same bus, but DD tends to panic (minor SN) and if there is a slight detour (as there often is around 5ish due to people leaving work) she will simply get off the bus where ever she is and sit and crysad

So, AIBUR to expect afterschool clubs to finish when they are supposed to?

no YANreally BU but I would tell the teacher who runs it about these issues; it might just be a one-off where they got very involved and won't happen again anyway.

Is science club afterschool club? <Confused>

sorry - science club is a club after school finishes, not an actual childcare afterschool club IYSWIM

There was no one to pick her up, i am without a car for a while, and friend is away. She eventually got home at 5.45, starving and quite tearful. She told me that her teacher wasnt happy at her leaving - though tend to take DDs perceptions of other people with a pinch of salt as she is not too good at reading people.

Have told her she can go back next week, but she HAS to leave at 4.20. I really think an hour is long enough!!
