AIBU?

In thinking that some Royal Mail and postal staff must be incredibly stupid

I have set up a keepsafe for the sorting office to "keeps safe" my mail for a week. It was due to start today and guess what the post has been delivered.
Now this isn't the first time it ahs happened, every single time I set it up post gets delivered and every time I complain and all they do is refund my costs yet the same problem keeps happening. On one occasion I set it up for Feb half term and while we were away we got post delivered and a parcel left on teh front step which one of DS1s school mates took to school because he knew we were away ad the headmistress rang me on ym mobile to tell me. On another occasion there was mail post mrked for the whole week we ahd been away.
The annoying thing is that I have to just accept it when teh posties don't bother delivering to our street for a few days or when the post turns up at 4pm.

I have been told by a customer care staff that if I make an officla complaint to RM then the sorting office manager and the posties will get disciplinary action taken against them for incompetence, so I am seriously tempted to take this further becasue the list of complaints I have about the same thing happening over and over again at the same sorting office is getting beyond a joke

I have the opposite problem. I was waiting on 13 ebay parcels and couldnt understand how all 13 had got lost in the post. Nipped into the PO today to enquire about it, and 8 parcels were there waiting for me! No card posted through my letterbox or anything! Ive no idea how long they have been sitting there

Stupid is a bit harsh.

Inefficient and disorganised is more likely.

OH I don't think stupid is harsh, there is a great big sign saying "hold mail to this address" stuck above my address. How difficult is it to adhere to it?, but yes incompetent is also a good word for them

Im waiting for parcel too. was dispatched two weeks ago and should have only taken 3 days for delivery but still not here. had confirmation of it being dispatched, so am just having to wait. is fustrating as is husbands birthday present. (his birthday was monday)

I would complain Saltire, you paid for a service they havent provided. just giving you your money back isnt good enough.

I am serioulsy thinking aobut it this time, making a formal complaint rather than just ringing RM customer services to complain

ILoveStripySocks: I had a similar experience at Christmas. I had ordered quite alot of stuff from Amazon and got a card to say they had tried to deliver a parcel when I was out.

Collected it next day but it was not all my order.

Anyway I waited for a bit on the last item then it occurred to me maybe the postie had left only one card for 2 parcels.

Went back to sorting office with proof of address but was told that "No" there was nothing else for me.

Anyway, eventually Amazon agreed it must be lost in the post so replaced the item - unfortunately too late for Christmas.

But guess what? Shortly after I got an email from Amazon to say the original parcel had been returned to them as it had not been collected!! Gah!!

I find it incredible how often we get other people's post delivered here. It's not even next door's or anything. Usually it's people who also live at number 6, but in a completely different road, or people who live in a road with a similar name but in a completely different town. With full postcodes and everything.

Does make me wonder how much of our own post is going astray if reading a (typed and fully postcoded) address is so tricky...

I do feel for you, that must be so annoying. Definitely make a formal complaint now as obviously ringing CS doesn't achieve anything.

Agree that the management are to blame for a lot of problems, but there's bound to be a crap employee sometimes, same as in all jobs.

I remember when I was once feeding my baby sitting on the sofa opposite the window and seeing a postman bring a parcel to the door, then just shove the 'sorry we missed you' note through the letter box and walk off. Didn't even knock or wait. By the time I got to the door he'd driven off.

I rang the number on the card & complained and they made him come back a bit sharpish. He was very sheepish when I opened the door
