To be annoyed at my ex boss?

My ex boss and I got on well when we worked together. However I have moved jobs, got a promotion (not as senior as her mind) and have little contact with her now - though our paths cross from time to time.

Last week I had to go to a meeting at the building where she works and where I used to work. There was a public event on and all the side roads were shut and I had nowhere to park so sneaked into my old car parking space in my old office building - the attendants still had me on the list.

It was the only time I've done it but was running late and had no idea where else to park.

Anyway she spotted my car in the car park and rang me basically to 'tell me off'. I WAS in the wrong to park there but I'm not the first or the last to sneak in. There is a problem with parking there but on that particular day the car park was half empty so no one was being deprived off the space.

Anyway I was guilty and held my hands up. However I really didn't appreciate her tone, telling me I was unprofessional, it was highly inappropriate, basically how terrible I was - all delivered IMO a very patronising tone.

I just took and even apologised - dunno why as it didn't effect her.

I really wish I'd told her it was nothing to do with her - it isn't, she is not my boss now and really don't know why she got involved tbh! No one else gives a sh*t!

I accept I am in the wrong but my questions are about whether she was over the top and whether she should have even got involved. If I had been her I think I would have taken a 'gentle word in your ear, your car has been spotted....' type approach. That is if I even bothered at all.

I am still annoyed with my own crapness as not asserting myself a bit more.

She sounds a controlling person - just be glad she's not your boss anymore

YANBU. It's a parking space. There are bigger problems in the world.

you parked where you shouldnt have
she got involved because you parked where she works and you dont!

yes bigchris but tbh, has she not got anything else to do but patrol the friggin car park!

Seriously would you get involved in that situation or would you think you might have better things to do?

that's not really the point though is it, you were wrong and you know it!!

Nah Fuck it, she should have better things to do, laugh about it and move on, what cpould possibly happen now anyway?!

Nothing could happen now and tbh even if she had reported it to someone 'important' I bet they couldn't give a fcuk either. You're right I should move on but it really would me up!

Thanks all for the replies.
