Of course it is- that's why it's fun!

if only she understood the joys of mn. Tell her it's something she'll appreciate when she's a grown up.

She's right.

In what way would you be being unreasonable? Do you disagree?

It is for bored parents but as for discussing the kids..naaaaaa. For a parenting website, a surprisingly small number of posts are about the kids

Hello Duchesse's daughter.

She's waving back in a rather unpleasant 14 yr old sort of way.

Hasn't your dd got anything better to do than be mean about Mumsnet? Like putting some spot cream on?

Well, myspace/bebo are for bored kids whinging about their parents, so where's the difference? (Apart from the fact that we are funnier)

WE don't whinge about our children but we do whinge about:

our parents
MIL
FIL
siblings
neighbours
school gate mums/dads
drivers
pedestrians
shop assistants
work colleagues
tele-sales callers
Jehovahs Witnesses
teachers
chuggers
random people we see in the street
.....and anyone else that doesn't fall into any of the categories above

On the whole I whinge about DH and his family (I'm revving myself up for a rant following a phonecall from SIL), but essentially your DD is correct. I am pretty bored much of the time too, children are only intermittently fascinating.

She's 14. I don't care what she thinks! Not saying that she's not lovely, underneath the fourteenness bykwim.

She doesn't understand that people are allowed to be older than..... say, fourteen

Let's see, what did I do when I was 14? Oh yeah, I remember: I whinged about my parents not giving enough money or freedom, I schemed to get more money to buy worthless tat or drugs stuff. I flirted with spotty boys who really weren't worth my time, and felt desperately sorry for myself because I was still a virgin. I expressed detailed admiration for rock singers who had died in pools of vomit.

Hmmm... gosh, I was clever in how I spent my free time, wasn't I?

She is driving me flipping nuts. She's just so...14.

Maggie- you're so right- everybody over the age of 20 is on borrowed time as far as she's concerned.
