why is his work more importsnt than yours?

Tell him you agreed the time, therefore he has to collect her.

You gave him 2 weeks notice. It is him not giving YOU enough notice of him backing out of his agreement.
Tell him he agreed and you've made concrete work plans based on that agreement.
If he has now changed his mind he will need to arrange cover for himself (he will have to call round and ask family/friends to pick up DD or re-arrange his work)
I'd be fuming at his disregard for you and your work

I agree, he took on the responsibility, he cannot pass it back on to you, he must find somebody else who can pick her up.

Dont back down on this, dont let him try make you believe his work is more important than yours.

YANBU at all, he is BVVU. Is there a grandparent who could help out?

He agreed at the time. He needs to sort it out now.
