I have just had one response 20 seconds after posting: "Is this still available"?

Earlier today I can had a: "Can you deliver "?

AIBU to wait for a nice polite request before handing over the goodies?

I always wait for a polite response, doesn't everyone?

Hate the begging messages as well.

No YANBU.

I ignore the "I'll have it" or the presumptuous "When can I collect" type responses.

Manners cost nothing

Nope that is what I do.

I am not bothered about who seems 'more deserving' like some on my site seem to be, but I can't stand the 'I will have it' or the 'ring me on ...'

All I want is a please and thank you

I always wait - quite a lot of people don't check their email that often so I figure it's usually worth hanging on until the end of the day, at least.

I hate those "I'll take it pls call me" messages - what's wrong with properly constructed sentences, FGS?

YANBU! not at all. people are so rude! they are getting it for free, they could at least mind their p's and q's. having said that, i love freecycle, allows me to feel as roman emperors must, thumb goes up or down!

No, YAabsolutelyNBU, freecycle really gets my goat for that very reason!

The vast majority of people on it are nice and polite but some of them, argh!

Offered a load of things last week, including an amber teething neclace, breast pump, mother and baby magazines, womens magazines, basic sling pouch etc and this one woman wanted everything. Which, in itself I wasn't overly bothered about as I could've got rid of it all in one go, but I emailed her saying 'sorry I've already promised the sling to someone else but you're welcome to the other stuff, when can you collect etc' and she sent me back a really arsey message saying if she couldn't have it all she wasn't coming

There's also an incredibly annoying man who continuously posts 'wants' for playstations, wiis, tvs, guitars and yesterday a caravan

Today I noticed a WANT for an Epson printer

I loved that the BRAND was named

My stuff goes to polite people who tell me why they want it. I don't expect paragraphs but a polite "my printer just died" or "I just moved house and have no furniture" is nice.

YANBU
although I do sometimes say 'is this still available', but always with a hello, please and thanks!

A hello, please and thank you is EXACTLY what's needed. I don't mind what is said in between.

Someone asked for a Blackberry on mine yesterday

I do select on niceness but sometimes I just do the first who can get here as usually it's something cluttering my way and I want rid ASAP.

I do ask sometimes if things are available still as it seems that things go very fast and some people don't bother with the takens. I am always polite though
