AIBU?

To want to buy a plain pair of boots without barbies mug on the leg?

or Dora the explorer or anyone else. It has started to get a bit chilly in the morning and yesterday I thought I'd do a bit of detective work before I took dd to buy boots. All I want is a plain pair of flat black leather ones. All I could find were decorated with people/creatures. I did see a pair of clarks boots, but closer inspection revealed a doll/figure in the heel. WTF is that all about?

YANBU!

I'm just surprised you could still find black boots - it probably wont be long before the only choice for girls' footwear is pink.

/shudder

Have you tried Jones the Bootmaker? They usually have 2 or 3 different types of plain black boots for girls.

Looking all over central Switzerland! I would kill for Jones the bootmaker and I'd probably do a bit of time for Freeman Hardy and Willis (if they still exist). I'd buy some mail order but dd has such skinny feet we struggle even with adjustable sandals. Maybe I'll just take her to the livery and buy her a pair of horseriding boots. The only problem with that is she'd expect the horse to go with them.
Possibly it's too early still, I do remember that ecco did a rather nice pair last year.

We won't buy Clarks again until they pack the stupid dollies in. DD2 reckons the shoes are never comfortable after you've lifted up the insole to get the doll out.

I wasn't particularly keen on the boots tbh, (or the price - an eyewatering 139 chf), I was keen on the leather and slimness of foot. I think I'll forgo the dolly in heel ones, she wouldn't thank me for it tbh.
We are coming to the UK in December so I may wait till then unless the ecco ones reappear.
