My best friend lives across the road, our DD's are best friends, they are both 8 this month. Hers tomorrow and she is having a little tea party for DD and a few of her friends now. My DD1 is there and has been since 3pm!
DD2 (20 months has been napping) - I have tidied, washed, cleaned had a coffee, she has been awake about 20mins and we are both boooooorrrreeeeeddddd!!

Can we go and join the party?? Am sure BF wont mind but not sure if its fair to impose DD2 on the girls, she will want to play with them, they find her annoying, but I want a coffee and a chat and see how things are going and let DD2 run riot over there

YABU. I have suffered from the sudden invasion of the uninvited and known to be annoying sibling and have not felt inclined to offer cake. A blunt instrument to the temples, yes...

No, how rude. I know it is your bf, but if she wanted you to just "pop in", she would have said so surely?

This "popping in" nonsense truly annoys me, I like notice, thats the problem with living next door to friends I find. So much so, dh and I are considering moving to a house with no immediate neighbours...

hmm well no am guessing thats the whole point of popping in - you just "pop in" no need for an invite!
Gosh you lot are harsh - TBH we do spend a lot of time popping into each others houses, and the girls tend to live in one or the other house - we are more like family I wouldnt do it to any other friends!

Well I did "pop over" with DD2 and it was fine, her mum was there, I gave her a bit of a hand, the girls (12 of them) played with DD2 then went upstairs and she stayed with us, we drank coffee, they all went home, another friend came over to pick up her DD with her DS (my DD2's age) - we had more coffee then we came home!

It was fine

Oh and we had cake!

If I had read your OP when you first posted, I would have said, she's your best friend, your DD is there, it is just over the road...GO and eat cake! She'd probably appreciate the extra pair of hands.
