God Im so irrationally angry about this.

dd has been staying with grandma this week, last night my mother phoned asking if dd could have her ears pierced and she needed to know striaght away as the woman she wanted to do it only works today

Then spoke to dd today who said woman wasnt there after all that and they will go another day. She then proudly went on to tell me that her and grandma had been bra shopping, despite her not needing any, was only fitted about 6 months ago, hasnt partuclularly grown since and bras still look nice.
Guess what they measured her in M&S a 32C in one bra and 32D in the other
Now this is for a pretty tiny 13 year old (just turned) with lovely little boobs for her age, but certainly not the same size as I was pre pregnancy

Seeing as the bra she would have been wearing is a 30A, do you not think my mother might have noticed something was adrift How the hell can a 13 year old have gone from a 30A to a 32D in 6 months Im bloody furious

If your daughter was measured by M&S staff, why should your mum disbelieve them?

A 13 year old could very easily go from a 30a to a 32 d or c. I did.

I wouldn't trust an M&S bra fitter, but apart from that I'm not sure what the problem is. My mum often buys the children things they don't need.

Dont mind the ears pierced thing, just the 'have the make a decision now' thing that pisses me off
My mother came with us last time we went bra shopping for dd, I just cant believe a grown woman did not question the fact that in 6 months a girl who has clearly not grown that much appears (in M&S eyes) to have increased 2 inches round and gone up 3 cup sizes I certainly would have gone for a 2nd opinion

Shouldnt they normally ask, like when you get shoes for the dc's 'what size are they wearing now'?
I know I get asked that when I get bras fitted.

Well, yes. I think you should wait and see of they fit.

It doesn't matter what size she was wearing does it? Breasts aren't easily measureable - you go with what fits.

I wish my mum would take my dds to get bras fitted! They are costing me a fortune at the mo any help gratefully received in our house!

I'd say your gripe should be with M&S they really are appalling at the mo. Cannot measure or fit me for toffee, give me Bravissimo any day (for me not dd's!)

FlamingoBingo: I think that in AIBU and many other topics on Mumsnet there are an awful lot of things being posted that are rather more controversial than the OPs (un named and unidentified) child's bra size. Why choose her to jump on about privacy issues? BTW my ds2 had an op for undescended testes -do you know him?

Mosschops30: Perhaps your mum couldn't remember what she measured when you all went together? Would it be worth checking the bras yourself and seeing if you can exchange the bras that don't fit?

don't even get me started on m&s measuring for bras: i went for my first bra (so wasn't wearing one) and when the lady went to measure me, she got embarrassed that i wasn't wearing a bra and measured me OVER my teeshirt!

and then told me that 32b was the same as 34a....

Yes I know she might not remember, but dd would have been wearing said bra so wouldnt have taken much to look at it.

Agree M&S are shite fitters who if they havent got a bra in the size they measured you, they bring you something else and tell you its the same size.

I like no romeo bras for the dd's, I tend to measure myself now after a few good bravissimo fits and tips and order them online. They are very pretty and seem to fit well.

I think you are being a little bit unreasonable until you have actually seen DD wearing the bras and know that they don't fit. I would have thought either DD or your mother would have said something if they were obviously way too big on her. Maybe she has suddenly grown without you noticing (they all tend to at that age). It does seem a VERY big difference though, especially if she hasn't grown noticeably. I was both a 32A and a 32D at various points when I was a teenager and I did A LOT of growing between the two. M&S are really bad for bra fittings too - I think it's more likely they have fitted her wrong than that she's actually grown that much.

YANBU thinking it's a bit weird that they went shopping for bras in the first place though. With the ear piercing thing as well it sounds a bit like DD thinks she can wind Grandma round her little finger and is therefore asking to do things that she thinks you might not let her do.

(I don't think you've done anything wrong by posting your DD's bra sizes either btw. It's not as if anyone on here knows her IRL and it's an integral part of the story.)

thanks brummie. I dont mind them shopping for bras at all. But wish they had got shoes instead (somthing she actually needed)

I seem to recall that I did skip B and C cups completely and when being fitted aged 14, the assistant proclaimed "I wish I'd had those when I was 14!"

So it's entirely possible that she has grown, although you'd have noticed if that's the case. But if she's tried them on and they seem to fit, there's no real harm done surely? Everyone has a couple of dodgy fitting bras.

If they don't fit just change them for something that does.
