I've namechanged for this, and won't name any of the MNetters that I'm referring to (so please don't either!). BUT, do you ever find the same MNetters on threads you are commenting on - and they always disagree with what you think??

This seems to happen to me alot and I find myself really disliking them, which is ridiculous. Sat here on my computer, they aren't even real people, just paragraphs of text on the screen so how can I dislike them so much??!

Am I the only one that gets this? Or are there more of you out there that are just as irrational as me?

fandango75 Mon 24-Aug-09 23:10:53

No - me the same, am only back on here after a months tantrum at someone i got pissed off with. You are not alone. Or weird. Or irrational smile

its the judgey pants that got my goat

MrsMerryHenry Mon 24-Aug-09 23:18:02

I was about to say you were unreasonable until I read your post.

I suppose that if you like someone on MN on account of the fact that you agree a lot, it shouldn't be unreasonable to dislike others for the reverse reason.

Unless, of course, I am on your blacklist <<narrows eyes>>.

No, MrsMerry you're in the clear!

Is it that they always disagree with what you think, regardless of what the topic is, or do you find yourself ending up in the same debates on certain issues with the same people commenting (the groundhog day threads).

thinkaboutthepepilepticdogs Mon 24-Aug-09 23:22:22

Platesmasher I love it - I may well print that off. I love it!!

LadyMuck Mon 24-Aug-09 23:22:23

Platesmasher grin. There are evenings where i am so thankful for the Hide Thread facility! And the fact it takes me ages to unhide a thread where I can't resist the final word!

PacificDogwood Mon 24-Aug-09 23:25:04

But I like the mud slinging witty banter grin.
I do lurk on some controversial threads but try v hard not to get sucked in when it gets personal. Different opinions I can cope with, but not being told I am wrong shock.
But I "like" certain MNers mainly for their sense of humour, clever turn of phrase and of course if they can offer good old sound advice.

Platesmasher Mon 24-Aug-09 23:25:29

Kind of puts it into perspective doesn't it.

thinkaboutthepepilepticdogs Mon 24-Aug-09 23:26:47

trefusis You've just go to think of those pepileptic dogs! Send some money and make a setter feel better!

LadyMuck No its not a groundhog day situation, just reoccurring people who must just be polar opposites of me in everyway. Very annoying.

Don't they know I'm right!

Mamazon Mon 24-Aug-09 23:27:34

no of course your not.
but whatever happens don't name them.

they'll pretend they don't care and be all snippy but then they'll follow you around bitching about you. then they'll namechange to something very similar to yours and then post very inflamatory and offensive posts trying to stir shit up for you.

nott hat anything like that has ever happened to me you understand. <<<whistles>>

dizzydixies Mon 24-Aug-09 23:28:04

Platesmasher - DH has just shouted at me 'that is SO you' and asked if someone did that cartoon for me!!! shockgrin

AnyFucker Mon 24-Aug-09 23:28:30

I don't see why you felt you had to namechange for this

it's a bit of a meh comment, tbh

< adds self to whatever blacklist the-person-recently-known-as-thinkaboutthepepilepticdogs is keeping >

any chance you could namechange to a shorter one next time ?

thinkaboutthepepilepticdogs Mon 24-Aug-09 23:29:02

Mamazon Don't worry, I'm not that daft! I've seen the shenanigans that go on!

MrsMerryHenry Mon 24-Aug-09 23:29:10

grin Smasher!

Glad I'm in the clear, thinkabout. <<wipes brow>>

I actually have a real problem with this right mongrel who's not been around for ages now, so I'll out her: she's called Dragonbutter. <<shudders>>

I mean, wtf kind of ridiculous name is that???

Tortington Mon 24-Aug-09 23:29:22

i rarely really notice personalities anymore.

if you think someone is following you to be deliberatley malicous please tell MNHQ

Platesmasher Mon 24-Aug-09 23:31:03

nevergoogledragonbutter wasn't it.
right cow.
glad she flounced.

thinkaboutthepepilepticdogs Mon 24-Aug-09 23:31:08

Anyfucker I name changed cos I've recently posted a comment back to someone I thought was being arsey and didn't want it connecting.

Sorry, will try to be brief with future names!

Off to bed now, need to dreamfeed DC. Night all.

LesbianCommunistImmigrantPaedo Mon 24-Aug-09 23:33:25

What really pisses me off? People who dance around the board saying 'why are you so worried about this then' on numerous threads. As if, after the previous 20-odd pages people are going to say 'Oh, you're right, aren't we big sillies' hmm

MrsMerryHenry Mon 24-Aug-09 23:34:22

She was unbearable, wasn't she, Smasher? You're alright though. Occasional bouts of disingenuity but I can forgive that.

Anyfucker!!!! (another one of my favourite MNers) <<hi fives>>

Platesmasher Mon 24-Aug-09 23:35:26

<orders mrsmerryhenry some GHD's>

AnyFucker Mon 24-Aug-09 23:35:27

goodness me, you shouldn't need to namechange for responding to someone in kind

it doesn't have to always be sweetness and light on here, does it ?

tis ok to have a bit of a ruck, but if someone is harassing you, report it, don't hide yourself behind a namechange

MrsMerryHenry Mon 24-Aug-09 23:39:02

ROFL and PMSL at the same time!!!

Actually did I ever tell you about the bullet-proof weave story?

the only worthwhile reason IMO for Women of Colour to deny their natural African heritage, thereby buying wholesale into hundreds of years of abuse at the hands of murderous slave traders but don't let that dissuade you
