slightly squeamish dh last night was in one of his blame-y, irate moods, the ones where it becomes apparent that he he really is his father's son.

I am in the bedroom and he shouts from the bathroom "And what is this stuff that keeps appearing in the bath??"

I know what he's talking about, having just been in there and noticed it myself - it's a gloop of Neal's Yard wild Rose Beauty balm, which I've recently started using on my face. I am also fairly sure that he has probably scooped it up and is about to come and wave it accusingly in my face

So I say, in a slightly embarrassed way ... "Oh, sorry ... yeah i know .. it's just something that happens in the last few weeks of pregnancy ... sorry."

(am nearly 36 weeks)

He pauses in doorway, gloop on finger as I expected. The look on his face!!! I have been laughing ever since.

Yes, tiz funny, but my dh acted like such a baby the other day when I asked about my cervix (also pregnant), I probably wouldn't risk a joke like that on him.

What did your dh do?

luckily it was only a split second thing as I was unable to stop the massive smirk on my face, which gave the game away once he'd had time register it.

He was even more disgruntled as he is all too frequently the butt of my practical jokes... for eg, he's paranoid about going bald, since his father lost all of his hair at age 37 (it was stress-related alopecia and therefore irrelevant, but doesn't stop dh from examining his hairline anxiously) Anyway, we had this brown pile rug that moulted all over the house and I was constantly picking up furballs of the stuff.. one day took a handful in to him with shocked expression and said "OMG, you really ARE losing your hair!!" Again the look on his face ...

I am being unfair & uncharitable about him though ... he did deliver our last baby (no choice, was very quick) and handled it brilliantly ... although did regale visitors later with tales of it being like "playing american football in the rain"

Couldn't you of wiped it off his finger onto your face and said "yea supposed to be good for the skin, all those hormones"

for the record, my dh is now mildly irate that I have made him laughing stock, albeit under a pseudonym. Tee hee.

But why is he mildly irate? I think it serves him right. Who made him the clean and tidy police? I don't like his attitude, despite his heroic delivery.
