Single parentdom. Had a fella here last night. God knows what happened as he had left by the time I woke up at half five.

Been looking after ds today and just wish, after a full and more year of this shite, somebody would come into my house and say 'relax...yes drink that wine...I am going to look after ds for a few hours while you remember who you are and what life is'....

Never happens.

No family. No h. No in-laws. Plenty of wine and a bloke-less weekend. Not that I mind the bloke bit. I just wish somebody would remove my brain for a few hours

AIBU or should I get a feckin grip and do the washing up/hoovering/shopping/walk into town and buy something from poundstretcher?

Life eh?

It's bollox

there's more to life than getting wankered, especially in the afternoon.

go out for a nice long walk instead?

Come on Honey, I was a bit 'eh?' at your post, it did sound like a rather judgey question.

YANBU
I was hungover yesterday and had DS all day. Not a single parent but DH away for the weekend. I'm not saying it's the same but gave me an idea how horrid it must be to do it all on your own with no breaks
Do you have no friends with kids? You could do childcare swaps and have some afternoons or nights off?

I don't think honey was being judgey, she only ask a question.

Yep delgirl. It's shit. Most of the time I am fine with it but sometimes i just want to scream and tear my hair out and make fried bread or do something really radical like go for a manicure.

My babe is nearly 2. I have a lot of lone parenting to do yet!

How do you cope on these rare days when you just want to get wankered in the afternoon?

Ask the person who was looking after your ds last night if they can watch him?

allbymeown · 22/08/2009 12:24

judgey, I took him with me to the pub last night. Country pub, lots of lovely people, the soft clink of wine glasses, a super warm evening, crisps, he crawled about being handsome.

THEN I got a taxi home with bloke, put ds to bed, went downstairs.....the rest os a blur. Surely I am not the only single parent to have experienced such a scenario? Please tell me I am not.

sit and cry mainly, no not really, only today, have no idea why but it's crap . How do I cope? No idea, we just seem to get through the day somehow with some nice bits thrown in here and there. Just everything takes such organisation to have time to yourself and that's what gets me down sometimes. Oh pooh!

not even hungover. just wish after a week of shifting shit at work, I could eat the organic bacon I had got us in for breakfast.

But you know what? I am just going to have a dizzy rant about how fucking useless 'men' are. Not real men obviously (I suppose? Never known one) but 'men'..you know the type,

the ones with willies

and piss-poor etiquette

and shit for brains

and who piss off and dont ring

and maybe drive home drunk

the ones you think are going to help you single person with your ds for once out of 60 farkin nights on my own

but they dont

because they are twats

those ones

Oh gawd, here we go.

This thread is now going to be divided between the: "you let a stranger in to your home when you were alone with your DS???", the trying-to-be-hugely-laidback-and-liberals who will accuse the former of having cats-bum mouths and the trolls spotters.

Quite early in the day for such a thread actually.

well it might now, since you mention it

Report
GirlsAreLoud · 22/08/2009 12:32

to you too Del.

Report
allbymeown · 22/08/2009 12:32

delgirl, your language is appalling...oh poo!?

goodness, I nearly spilt my jack daniels.

Not really drinking jack daniels btw

Also, when you are single and thought you had a weekend 'organised' it is truly crap to find the weekend is shafted by some wizzened old man. There were other things I could have organised ffs. Like white water rafting or skydiving (obviously, judgey, ds would have to be left tied to a radiator while I did those selfish mumsy type things )

I just don't see there was any need, to start something off really? If you don't like the thread, you don't have to read it, do you. You've just lit the flame, I just don't see the point!!
