AIBU?

To talk about checking my cervix while dh is eating his lunch?

Earlier we talked about me checking my cervix to see if it's near the front and soft. I'm getting a sweep on Friday and I was wondering if I could feel it? I felt it after I had a sweep with my dd. Anyway we talked about it but didn't finish the conversation.

So he's eating a sandwich for lunch and I say "So do you think I should check my cervix?" He acts like a drama queen and spits a mouthful of sandwich out on the plate. He said "I can't believe you said that, I'm eating my lunch." I said "What, it's not disgusting. Sorry, I didn't think you'd mind." He's taken his sandwich upstairs in a huff but not before he told me how unbearable I am to live with at the moment.

I'm wondering if he's being a drama queen, or are my hormones getting in the way. Should I go say sorry?

I watched an autopsy once while eating dinner, so maybe my initial reaction isn't a fair one?

well it's not exactly polite conversation when someone is eating. don't think you should have talked about it, but he over-reacted when a simple "do you mind not talking about that while i'm eating" rather than putting on his little show.

Good, I thought so too. After all he saw what I did in the birthing pool with dd.

I wonder if it was the fact he was eating a tuna and baked bean toastie???

He's BU! Dear me, such drama queens aren't they!?
DH got a bit like that at the end of my pregnancy, personally I think it was because everything was revolving around me at that point and he just wanted a strop to restore the balance!
He'll even admit now he felt a bit left out back then!

Bless 'em eh!?

He should have been grateful that you didn't provide pictures!! Pussy!

If you had squatted on your haunches with a small hand mirror actually checking then I would be on your dh's side.

Eating a tuna and baked bean toastie is TOTALLY unreasonable.

Perhaps you should make up a full scale model of it and show him tomorrow at breakfast??

He'll be grateful you only speak the words next time!

people are too easily put off their food. Not a problem I have - can discuss a worrying nappy of DS's while eating my weetabix no problem

YANBU

He is being a baby but saying you are unbearable to live with sounds alarm bells that he is already annoyed with you about something..

I suppose he'll want you to keep your legs together during labour too in case it puts him off his cup of tea, poor lamb. YANBU!

Bit of a twattish way of him to behave. He does sound like a delicate soul. At least his stomach must be cast-iron to deal with a tuna and baked bean toastie. Bleurgh.

I went out and he phoned me to say sorry. He is stressed with work and pulled a muscle in his neck yesterday. He didn't feel like he could complain about his neck or moan about work because I'm so pregnant. He shouldn't have taken it out on me and he's appologised for that. Obviously I wish he'd talk to me but we all just snap sometimes.

So I've forgiven him and promised not to inspect my cervix at dinner tonight

He did overreact, for sure, but I sort of know where he's coming from as I'm a bit squeamish, especially when I'm eating.

My OH forgets this all the time and thinks nothing of talking about diarrhea or constipation while we're eating chili or suchlike. I politely and calmly ask him if we can talk about it later and he usually tuts and says he thinks I'm being oversensitive.

YANBU. DH occasionally makes a jokey remark that the sanitary towel adverts on TV put him off his dinner---and he gets told off every time.

My mom is a nurse, dad was a social worker, and conversations at our dinner table were frequently what would be 'impolite' in many families. Then I did personal care work for years, and have had every bodily fluid splashed on me at one time or another, so I tend not to be squeamish in the least and just forget that other people are!

Baked bean and tuna toastie though.....that's where I draw the line....bleurgh.

I don't think he is being an arse.I wouldn't want to talk about anyone's cervix at the dinner table. Yuck.

I don't suppose he had such an aversion to your cervix when he was putting his precious sperm in there!

Sounds like he's about to have a baby with that tantrum, not you!

He's not usually squeamish and we were talking about a cervix, not bodily waste which in my opinion is different.

I guess everyone is different.

I'm sure if you'd wanted to discuss sexual positions to try out later he would have been fine.
