AnyFucker Wed 12-Aug-09 21:14:11

your own fault really

Boys2mam Wed 12-Aug-09 21:14:18

Why did your 2 yr old have your engagement ring to be able to lose it?

TrinityRhinoIsInDetention Wed 12-Aug-09 21:15:06

you should have kept it safe

YABU. Agree with posts above!

MmeLindt Wed 12-Aug-09 21:19:42

A 2 yo can not comprehend what an engagement ring means.

Even my 5yo DS or 7yo DD would struggle to realise that.

You should have kept it safe.

MollieO Wed 12-Aug-09 21:22:27

Look in drawers, toybox, under bed. He probably doesn't remember where he put it.

morocco Wed 12-Aug-09 21:23:15

yabu, I probably would have gone mad as well, but it is pointless and futile and only upsets everyone. deep breath. it'll probably turn up tomorrow.

FAQtothefuture Wed 12-Aug-09 21:23:44

"he knows perfectly well not to touch"

he's 2 he really won't have a clue where it is.

no - he's 2 he wouldn't "certainly" have remember/known not to touch it.

My DS2 (5 1/2) has only really properly grasped that in the last year - and he is a bright boy.

AnyFucker Wed 12-Aug-09 21:28:01

I reckon he has swallowed it

TrinityRhinoIsInDetention Wed 12-Aug-09 21:28:14

why did you take it off?

and he is 2 for gods sake
he may well know he isn't to touch it but he may not care and just want to touch it

he is 2, try and remember

<and gosh>

It may well turn up. Just don't do any aggressive vacuuming / rubbish tipping and keep your eyes peeled. Where was he when you were running the bath. I lost the diamond out of my engagement ring (clearly good quality stuff?!) and DH found it on DS's bedroom floor a week later. Look for the glint.

morocco Wed 12-Aug-09 21:30:45

did you look in the bed as well? under duvet etc? how about inside a toy like a car or a playhouse?

Concordia Wed 12-Aug-09 21:31:29

Try behind the radiators. That's often a fave 2yo posting spot, esp in summer when they're not on.

ChopsTheDuck Wed 12-Aug-09 21:32:30

is it your first?

2yos might seem to understand not to touch, but secretly they are like magpies. There is NO chance I would leave my engagement/wedding ring within reach of even my 4yos who should be 'old enough not to touch it'. It's shiny and pretty and tempting, and they HAVE to have it. Then, they DO have a memory like a seive and forget where they put it.

All I can suggest is you ask him in a few days time. I've found at that age, sometimes long term memory works better than short term.

Sorry but you are being completely irreponsible and idiotic to leave something like that within your son's reach.

Meglet Wed 12-Aug-09 21:32:53

yabu. I don't trust my 2.9 yr old with anything for a second, he spots forbidden items a mile off.

AnyFucker Wed 12-Aug-09 21:33:19

check his poo for the next few days grin
