I've named changed in case someone sends SS round!
Ive just made a start on the cleaning....
tunes on, and glass of wine in hand. I find it less boring this way. Also DP is away until late tonight so would be able to give me any disapproving looks when he gets in!
Am I being unreasonable?
I should confess that the wine isn't actually in a glass, it's in a mug
I mean what would the neighbours think if they popped round and found me wine glass in hand at this time? At least this way they'll assume it's a cup of tea .

I couldn't drink it out of a mug. I would rather have a cup of tea! And I LOVE my wine.

YABU

(but only because I'm still at POXY work and can't have a glass of wine tonight either because tomorrow is my DS's birthday party)

Yes I know it's gross drinking it from a mug but it feels more discreet .
I'm not sure WHY I feel I have to be discreet.

Anytime after 12 on weekend is a fine (and Friday IS the weekend isn't it)

Having from a nice wineglass (as opposed to my 40p Asda multipack) always makes it feel like more of a luxury though. Get it out of the mug!

Wow, kitchens done already! The wine's definitely working. Maybe the Slatterns and Flyers should try it

YABU but only because im pregnant and cant drink and also am finding it incredibly tiring to even think about cleaning and the large pile of ironing that needs doing...
Infact maybe I should have some wine I might find the energy then!!

i dont drink at all but i noticed the 'in a mug' thing and must admit i have the odd sneaky glass of coke in a mug so the kids think its coffee

Here we always use the phrase on weekends
'Is it wine o'clock yet - (one o'clock)
So no YANBU
Might join you as Dd1 out at cinema & Dd2 sleepover @ friends.

urgh...YABU totally...Wine in a mug...that is vile....lol...YANBU to have a naughty glass of wine at that time of day though...if it isn't a daily occasion, hehe....

have been eyeing the bottles of wine myself...lol...we just come back from Germany and bought a fair few bottles...be stupid not too, what with a decent enough bottle costing about 1.50 Euro...but had they asked us to open the boot to check, my my...they either wouldn't have believed it if we said it's for personal use or they would have taken us for the alcie s we really are, haha

YANBU. Wine in a mug is far superior to wine in an unbreakable plastic beaker.

I think this thread is a prime candidate for getting mentioned in the Daily Mail 'mumsnet today' thing someone posted about yesterday. Then lots of people could right tut-tut comments underneath the article online

If I didn't have to take the cat to the vet later I'd join you

Oh yes Claire I agree. I can see it now.....
"The secret life of a surburban SAHM binge drinker"......"and she drinks it from a mug so that the neighbours won't know about her day time alcohol activities!"

Ok so the thread spurred me into getting off my lazy bum and do some housework. I poured myself a nice large glass of apple juice (closest thing I had to wine) in a wine glass I might add and tackled the kitchen.
Thats my contribution to the running of this household for today. I now have an hour and a bit to relax before I have to pick up the little terror darling from the childminder!
cheers.

Too early, stop talking nonsense I'm just glad i'm not the only one that wonders if drinking at 3.00pm is too early.
