I've named changed in case someone sends SS round!
Ive just made a start on the cleaning....
tunes on, and glass of wine in hand. I find it less boring this way. Also DP is away until late tonight so would be able to give me any disapproving looks when he gets in!
Am I being unreasonable?
I should confess that the wine isn't actually in a glass, it's in a mug blush
I mean what would the neighbours think if they popped round and found me wine glass in hand at this time? At least this way they'll assume it's a cup of tea wink.

I couldn't drink it out of a mug. I would rather have a cup of tea! And I LOVE my wine.

Silver1 Fri 07-Aug-09 15:36:58

Hey my DH would just be pleased to find I had done the cleaning!

(but only because I'm still at POXY work and can't have a glass of wine tonight either because tomorrow is my DS's birthday party)

SixtyFootDoll Fri 07-Aug-09 15:38:36

If I didnt ffeel so unwell would be on the vinp too, it is the weekend isnt it?

oldsoak Fri 07-Aug-09 15:41:47

Yes I know it's gross drinking it from a mug but it feels more discreet hmm.
I'm not sure WHY I feel I have to be discreet.

cheesesarnie Fri 07-Aug-09 15:42:24

wine in a mug is wibena-its easier to get away with.

cheesesarnie Fri 07-Aug-09 15:43:30

i couldnt actually drink in the day but thats just me.

susie100 Fri 07-Aug-09 15:44:17

Anytime after 12 on weekend is a fine (and Friday IS the weekend isn't it)

Having from a nice wineglass (as opposed to my 40p Asda multipack) always makes it feel like more of a luxury though. Get it out of the mug!

oldsoak Fri 07-Aug-09 15:56:32

Wow, kitchens done already! The wine's definitely working. Maybe the Slatterns and Flyers should try it grin

AmazingBouncingFerret Fri 07-Aug-09 16:06:15

YABU but only because im pregnant and cant drink and also am finding it incredibly tiring to even think about cleaning and the large pile of ironing that needs doing...
Infact maybe I should have some wine I might find the energy then!! grin

littleducks Fri 07-Aug-09 16:12:19

i dont drink at all but i noticed the 'in a mug' thing and must admit i have the odd sneaky glass of coke in a mug so the kids think its coffee wink

oldsoak Fri 07-Aug-09 16:15:06

Bouncingferret- You have the perfect excuse to do no housework...put your feet up and have a nice cup of Ovaltine grin I was addicted when i was PG with DD, no wonder I was soooo enormous!!

cheesesarnie Fri 07-Aug-09 16:18:54

littleducks-ive done it with cokegrin

ILYM Fri 07-Aug-09 16:23:11

Here we always use the phrase on weekends
'Is it wine o'clock yet - (one o'clock)
Might join you as Dd1 out at cinema & Dd2 sleepover @ friends.wink

FairLadyRantALot Fri 07-Aug-09 16:24:43

urgh...YABU totally...Wine in a mug...that is to have a naughty glass of wine at that time of day though...if it isn't a daily occasion, hehe....

have been eyeing the bottles of wine just come back from Germany and bought a fair few stupid not too, what with a decent enough bottle costing about 1.50 Euro...but had they asked us to open the boot to check, my my...they either wouldn't have believed it if we said it's for personal use or they would have taken us for the alcie s we really are, haha

TrinityRhinoIsInDetention Fri 07-Aug-09 16:30:08

dont care about the mug either grin

I would join you but all I have is vodka and no coke

also the house is so much of a tip I might drink too quick to drown my sorrows and fall asleep in a a pile of crap grin

Ninkynork Fri 07-Aug-09 16:39:27

YANBU. Wine in a mug is far superior to wine in an unbreakable plastic beaker.

<<looks furtive>>

ClaireDeLoon Fri 07-Aug-09 16:47:49

I think this thread is a prime candidate for getting mentioned in the Daily Mail 'mumsnet today' thing someone posted about yesterday. Then lots of people could right tut-tut comments underneath the article online wink

If I didn't have to take the cat to the vet later I'd join you

oldsoak Fri 07-Aug-09 16:55:20

Oh yes Claire I agree. I can see it now.....
"The secret life of a surburban SAHM binge drinker"......"and she drinks it from a mug so that the neighbours won't know about her day time alcohol activities!" grin

AmazingBouncingFerret Fri 07-Aug-09 16:55:23

Ok so the thread spurred me into getting off my lazy bum and do some housework. I poured myself a nice large glass of apple juice (closest thing I had to wine) in a wine glass I might add grin and tackled the kitchen.
Thats my contribution to the running of this household for today. I now have an hour and a bit to relax before I have to pick up the little terror darling from the childminder!
<raises glass> cheers.

amisuchabadmummy Fri 07-Aug-09 17:17:33

i have no wine in the house... sniff. sad

amisuchabadmummy Fri 07-Aug-09 17:19:14

might make myself a cup of tea and drink it out of a wine glass to make myself feel better.... wink
