sorry - like this

It's a lift from Closer Magazine. The same people that ran the story of the 30 stone mum that fed her triplets burgers. Remember?

'Fat mums on benefits' is a good seller for Closer and a good talking point for people like the Daily Mail. The woman in the story got paid a few hundred quid and will probably make a few more. I'd take the story with a pinch of salt.

I think it's disgusting, and I'm shocked...that you read the Daily Mail.

GeekIsGood Tue 28-Jul-09 23:10:36

YABU to make us read a Daily Mail story!

Looks too good bad to be true

TEJQ Tue 28-Jul-09 23:31:29

Oh GAWD the DM - does anyone actually BELIEVE what they read in it???????

Its like that rag from the 80's which used to talk to people about being abducted by aliens etc.

The DM is an alarmist rag, filled with inaccuracies and twisted reporting to inflame the member of the population who are highly suggestible.

Chuck it in the recycling where it belongs and don't bother reading it again.

Littleredshoe - this is not edifying reading material

kikid Tue 28-Jul-09 23:34:05

who buys this shit? , i give tabloids the largest berth.

andyourpoint Tue 28-Jul-09 23:53:47

The Daily Mail print stories that they know will get their readers, livid, fuming and hysterical.

There was one the other day about tax credits, comments like:

Its not just the tax credits that they have to sort out...its the benefits for the young pregnant girls...

India has just built its first nuclear submarine yet we still give it hundreds of millions in overseas aid.

We have a 1000,000 emigrates in this country many living of the state and our taxes and we should pay more.

Time to scrap the expensive and complicated tax credit system completely. Child benefit should be dumped too - we don't need more babies the country is already overcrowded

PeedOffWithNits Tue 28-Jul-09 23:57:10

in the photo of her aged 15 she looks more like 40

wook Wed 29-Jul-09 00:44:16

You are definitely being unreasonable if you paid for a copy of the Daily Mail- it just encourages them!

Littleredshoe Wed 29-Jul-09 08:30:59

didnt pay for it, saw it online.... are you suggesting this is not true ?

LynetteScavo Wed 29-Jul-09 08:38:40

What's the country comming to?

This woman is hardly reprsentative of the average Brit. That's why it's in "Closer"

Chevre Wed 29-Jul-09 08:43:56

omg it is like the perfect dailymail story. the cystalisation of everything they have been trying to achieve over the past 10 years.
fat woman - tick
lazy woman - tick
stupid woman - tick
benefits - tick

i think she has a point actually, i would like some disablitity allowance as i have grey hair and would like some benefits to help get it highlighted too.

the picture of her at 15 is really sad. i think it is ridiculous that the nhs would perform surgery and then not follow it up by educating her.

FAQtothefuture Wed 29-Jul-09 08:54:48

I bet some of it is true - but with a lot of important detail missed out and other bits embellished, and facts mixed up. - as it always the way with DM articles.

FAQtothefuture Wed 29-Jul-09 08:56:26

is this her - a few years ago?

As long as she doesn't stop being depressed, she won't loose her incapacity benefit.....

LynetteScavo Wed 29-Jul-09 08:58:30

But at least she'll be able to sell her story to another magazine.......

lou031205 Wed 29-Jul-09 09:01:18

Of course 'fat people' can get DLA - if their obesity is a hindrance to their health it is disabling. Sounds like she was getting either Mid rate care/high mobility or High Care/Low mobility.

I take it no-one has noticed that she lost 8.5 stone prior to surgery?

scottishmummy Wed 29-Jul-09 09:03:26

why read DM and then get in an indignant froth?its a comic a made up get 'em foaming at the mouth, scurrilious rag

and i see it worked - got you going littleredshoe
