He is going to be 11.

I bought him a nintendo wii which he got early, he wants his ear peirced and he is getting a mobile phone ( i know i said i wasn't getting him one), I am also having a tea party with family tomorrow and at the weekend going for a meal with family and friends.

But I feel guilty that I have not got more for him....and that I have not had the time to arrange a party.

Blimey. That's loads. My kids would probably like you to adopt them!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad Tue 28-Jul-09 20:28:28

What are you on about woman? A wii costs a small fortune!!

Save the party for his 13th wink

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:29:08

lol Hercules the tea party and meal are not really pressies though. SO he is only getting his mobile n ear peirced as the wii was an early pressie and is something we all use. guess thats why i feel guilty.

A mobileand a wii for an 11 year old thats more than enough.

HuffwardlyRouge Tue 28-Jul-09 20:29:19

That's plenty.

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:29:51

Fluffy I know it cost £267 with the wii fit which of course I he wanted

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:30:53

Ok thanks ladies, i knew that already i think. I am just used to spoiling him but this year we just cannot afford to as things are tight.....what with looking for a new home to move to.

hercules1 Tue 28-Jul-09 20:31:40

Okay, I agree about the tea party and weekend meal and I can see how the wii is more a family thing. I guess an earring doesnt cost much either. Mobile - that's a fairly biggy although could be a dirt cheap one too!

hercules1 Tue 28-Jul-09 20:32:08

maybe you are being tight! grin

MrMayoNessie Tue 28-Jul-09 20:33:48

I agree thats plenty, that's sometimes the problem when presents are given early, I would say make sure that you get the wii on first thing and have a couple of games of what ever he's into!!

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:37:28

MrMayo good idea!!!

Hercules, its a basic mobile...i want to make sure he can look after it before i buy an all singing all dancing one iyswim?

No you are right I am not being tight I am being more than fair.

DD1 was 12 last week. She got £30 to buy clothes with and some secondhand books (that she really wanted). She was perfectly happy.

moondog Tue 28-Jul-09 20:43:38

You say things are tight?
God, I'm loaded and wouldn't dream of spending that much on one of my kids! shock

Theearring idea is dreadful too.

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:44:10

I know he will be happy with what he has, he always is...i just wish i could have bought him more...still the family are all gonna be here so that will be fun.

He started asking if his wanker father was likely to call him to wish him happy b'day a little while ago....and thats when i started feeling guilty cos i know he won't.

Moon, the earring was something he first asked for at the age of 3, i told him no when he was 11 if he still wanted it we would go and get it done. Well he is 11, i thought he may have forgotten but he hasn't.

Ledodgy Tue 28-Jul-09 20:46:00

What Moondog said.

Spidermama Tue 28-Jul-09 20:47:43

What Moondog said and Ledodgy seconded. (expect the bit about being loaded)

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:48:12

Cyrad, I always went OTT because i felt awful that his father never ever bought him anything even when they were having weekly then fortnightly contact he never so much as bought him a book. So i started to over compensate i guess. Then when I met dp he was just the same as me. and when I fell pg with ds2 well I didnt want ds1 to feel left out so i made/make sure he has all he could want as well as as much time I can physically spend with him.

Spidermama Tue 28-Jul-09 20:48:12

except not expect.

PlumBumMum Tue 28-Jul-09 20:48:19

If you buy him more , what would that leave you to get him for christmas?

TheLadyEvenstar Tue 28-Jul-09 20:49:40

LOL Spider I am far from loaded, am normally quite comfortable, but what with moving and other things well things are a bit tight this month.

PlumBumMum Tue 28-Jul-09 20:50:01

grin have just read your post about the earring and reminds me of me,
I have told dd she can get her ears pierced when she is 13, and she can't have a tv until she is 13,
she wants to know why everthing has to wait until she is 13?grin
