AIBU?

NHS and ARMED FORCES

am I being unreasonable to suggest the government gives money to the NHS and to our forces who are both in need of equipment, rather than hand out money to immigrants and assylum seekers?
I have just come out of hospital, it wasnt the cleanest of places, and there only seemed to be one nurse on the whole ward!!! with other care assistants, but the care I received was second to none and the girls did a sterling job as do our boys fighting in substandard kit.
It annoys me at all the handouts our government gives in benefits to people who come to our country looking for a better life. Also we are told the country will take 5 years to recover from the recession, so why for the love of God did we ever agree to hold the olypics here???????

The Olympic bid was won before the recession kicked in - ministers have admitted they wouldn't have bid in the current climate.

Asylum seekers do not claim benefits - it's a myth. Most of the immigrants that come here are young, fit and here to work - the NHS could not function without them.

Fair enough, about the olympic bid, but they must have known how badly off this country is.
It is not a myth that people coming here are told how to claim benefits, they are given housing, bla bla bla. and I dont mean just people coming into this country, Our own country has produced some lazy scrounging good for nothings, because our benefit system is too easily taken for granted and people have no incentive to get off their backsides and find work ( not that there is any around at the moment) Our new TESCO store didnt even advertise locally for jobs, but it did advertise on a Latvian website and that is scandalous

Yeah, I definitely agree. People at risk of being raped, tortured or murdered should stay put, why should my taxes give them a safe place to live?

I dont mean it like that sorry, not the assylum seekers, i shouldnt have lumped everyone together, yes they do need our help, and I appologise .I mean the people coming here just because they hear of the land of milk and honey..The NHS is in a terrible state, and our lads are fighting to keep our country great, so people can come here and seek necessary assylum in a safe country. I just think its time the government shelled out more money thier way!
The MPs themselves are a disgrace what with their corrupt allowances etc. its all a disgrace

It just makes me laugh that we used to ship our convicts off to australia as a penal colony, and now Australia is one of the hardest countries to enter and live, and I just think Britain should adopt the same stance.Good for Australia I say.

Immigrants provide net economic benefit to this country, not the other way around.

I keep hearing about immigrants getting money and free stuff but my immigrant husband has yet to receive his welcome pack of free immigrant stuff, which the tabloids have reliably informed me includes designer trainers and sky TV. I might write to the home office.

I would emigrate there but they wouldnt have me!!!
and you dont have to tell me about lousy jobs that no one wants to do. I have two teenagers that think its their right to pocket money, cos they cant be bothered to get off their fat lazy backsides and get a job, 'Im not doing a paper round!!!!' but they still want a mobile phone on contract etc. Im not saying all immigrants are the same. I just think the country should be made harder to enter, and benfits shouldnt be doled out like sweeties

benefits shouldnt be handed out like sweeties, to immigrants and lazy good for nothing British scroungers alike. I am a student, single mum with four boys and I dont claim a single penny in benefits, I study full time and work part time. and support my kids. No I dont want a medal n no I dont want a pat on the back and no I dont want anybody feeling sorry for me, and no I dont want anyone to polish my halo. I just think people get benefits too easy, and more money should be given to the NHS and The FORCES thats all.

You aren't claiming Parental Learning Allowance, child tax credits, child benefits, student loans, fee loans and student grants, then? Bearing in mind that no student financial support is means tested with reference to the income of the student in question?

YABU to suggest that it's just foreigners (my Dad was one some many years ago, never once has he recieved a penny of benefits! And neither did the many others I knew who just came here to earn some money and get away from conflict) however I understand that some foreigners do it, however the bigger problems are caused by British people who can't be arsed to get off of their backsides and work. People on benefits should be made to do some form of voluntary work at the least. Earn the fucking money they are being handed gr

It's so easy too! Job Seekers Allowance: my OH decided that last year between seasons (seasonal worker) he wold go on the dole, to get his money, , all he needed to do was pop to the job centre once a week and show them how he was trying to find work (printed off bits of paper about jobs nearby, etc). His best mate has been on the dole and his parents are fucking rich bastards who earn over a hundred thousand each, and he lives with his parents still

Yes they are there Qally, but no I havent used them, so before you start spouting, get your facts straight.Every one is entitled to tax credits and child benefits so As such I am claiming nothing more than I am entitled to!!!! and A LOAN is something you pay back!!!hence student LOAN. not a HAND OUT!!!

Of course they are. I claim child benefit, too. What I don't do is sit there sneering at all those other benefit claimants, who are in some way different from me.

And many, many student loans are never repaid in full, let alone at a market rate. They're pegged to inflation and no more, so they do have a built in cost to the taxpayer.

"before you start spouting, get your facts straight"

The irony, given you don't know about the entitlements of refugees at all, but sit here spouting bigoted rubbish on the subject. Why not try Google? I hear it can be useful sometimes.

What about the Gurkas eh?????? fought for our country for how long and NO RECOGNITION til just recently, DISGUSTING. Pixi I am with you whole heartedly.

We are teaching our younger generation that its ok to sit and do nothing and get paid for it whilst some decent hard working imigrants take on the menial tasks.

No respect for anything, thats what it boils down to with the younger lazy ones. Send em off to the forces for a couple of years, give them a sense of responsibility, if they cant find a job, and to hell with human rights b$%^^x
