To think that babygros are fine for a six month old to wear

According to my mum, dressing your 6 month old in a babygro of a daytime looks common.

Considering we're weaning now and she's a pukey baby anyway, babygros are far easier to change in and out of several times a day.

Plus, she's my baby, what's wrong with dressing her like a baby?

it is easier isn't it - personally for me - I see no problem when we are at home, but I always "dress" for going out. Although, if we are just going for a walk and he's on my back, a baby gro is much better because it means no lost socks and cold feet etc.... and if i'm just going to my mums, a baby gro will do.......

so no, I don;'t think UABU......

YANBU, especially with a pukey baby. My DS had reflux and vomited back almost every feed until he was a year, so it was far easier to change and wash babygrows, at worst we would go through five or six a day.

He only really wore 'outfits' when out and about visiting friends, at home or just going shopping with me it was mainly babygrows until around 10 months when he stated to cruise and needed his feet free to grip on the wooden floor!

He slept in babygrows until we couldn't find ones to fit him anymore though, I think they look cute!

YANBU. It doesn't look common in the slightest. It's practical, and by far the most comfortable thing for a small baby to be in. DS is a year old - today! - and he still stays in a babygro all day if we are just going to be at home.

Gawwdd my mum had a thing about "daywear" and "nightwear" something to do with training babies to know when was bedtime etc...

Due to this around the house ds wore lovely cute sleepy suits and got "dressed" when we went out.

WHYYY!! He looked gorgeous in his sleepy suits especially white and so practical and warm. I just wish he spent so much more of his early months in them. They're gorgeous! Your mum's being daft (like my mum)

Well my parent are quite posh and my mother was very much babies should wear simple clothes ie baby grows/simple dresses etc

To be honest I think the only "common" look is when very small children are very dressed up (jeans and trainers or a six month old, inappropriate slogans etc).

Personally i like having a doll baby to dress so tend to just use baby grows at night.

YANBU, babies look far nicer in babygros. I think the little outfits can look a little silly on a young baby, especially shoes/trainers- in fact I would even go so far as to say this is what looks common, not gros. Gros are also more confortable for the baby.

There are two arguments, IMO, against a six-month old baby wearing a babygro.

The first is that it is dull. The second is that, by six months, lots of babies are starting to move, and babygros are no longer appropriate as they don't allow babies the same freedom of movement as clothes.

yanbu but we had to change outfits every five minutes to get through all the clothes we got given! got bored of seeing them dressed in babygros after a few months though. dd2 is usually dressed in some random combo to stop her scratching her excema. would love to put her in a simple babygro!

If anything I'd say it is the reverse - Think of all those awful outfits and sometimes jewelry some common people put their babies in.

They are so practical too. Come in nice colours. Easier to crawl in as sometimes their knees get hurt in clothes when they ride up.

My main reason would be that it is nice to keep them as a baby as long as possible.

How are clothes less restrictive than a babygro Anna?

I always felt mine seemed so bunched up and bundled in clothes. Especially boys. Waistbands and straps and buttons and layers. In a babygro there is nothing digging in, nothing to get rucked up or untucked or dig in. They are completely warm. Lovely.

When you're spneding your day laid on your back or practicing rolling over and getting to your knees a babygro is perfect day wear. The last hing you need is belts and buttons and "cute" collars getting in the way and making you uncomfortable!

My DD was very active and needed clothes with a lot of "give" - she used to look so uncomfortable in a babygro. I actually got quite panicked when she wore a babygro as she would slip out of my hands - I liked her wearing a little top and soft trousers (with an elasticated waist) so that I could hold her round her tummy and my hands were on her skin to get a good grip.

i had DS in babygros until i could not longer get any to fit him, i just liked the velvety loveliness and neutral colours of a babygro, rather than boyish tee shirts, shorts etc

I love them in babygrows. My first I dressed every day without fail. My the time I had the dts I'd got lazier and wanted them to stay babies for longer.
Babygrows look lovely with a little tank top or soemthing over them for daytime.

I followed that routine thing too, dressign them for daytime and changing for bed so they 'know' when bedtime is. Then I realised a baby doesn't have a clue what it is wearing and as long as they are changed it has the same effect!

My 1 year old is going to the HV clinic today in a babygro as I will have to undress him and it's just easier to re-dress if he's in a babygro. He's also only worn socks and shoes on about 10 occasions.

I'm with Nooka and of the opinion it's far more common to dress your 6month and under baby in "outfits".

DS is not in 'babygrows' during the day but in romper suits instead.

So babygrows with short sleeves and legs with no feet .
